Ok before I take my bedtime The..

So far we got the engine.. V6 and Turbo, does´nt matter if U go Roberts,Ed or Hoover way the power is enough..Close maybe a little more needed for a 7.5

trans mission?? Glide or 4L80.. whell glide is somehow Ol´school but it works, the 4L80 have the computer capability as an advatidge (I think) Also don't over look a lenco drive(lenco witha converter) nearly unbreakable

Rear drive? a 9 or a 12bolt whell I guess for mee I´ll take the 12.. easyer do drive and holds alot of power. the truck is going to be light to reach 7 say 2000-2200Lbs Go with the 9" it stays truer under power = more mph. Plus there is alot of parts for them. 2000-2200 lbs is VERY optimistic. A tube chassis and fiberglassed a s-seris truck with awd, turbo(s), and intercooler stuff is going to way 2500lbs+. Speaking of intercoolers go with a air to water.

Front drive? whell if a Sy/Ty front end stays together with the power and the weight now, it will hold up in a lighter truck.. I would think about mating up a skylines transfer case, isn't it variable in its splits front to rear? Might be benefincial on launch to only have 90/10 split on launch.

Now´s the rest to brain away on

you still think the truck is a joke? hmmm.... anyways...

I can't say anyone thinks the truck is a joke, but I can say their are a few who think some on that "crew" are.

Amen to that. Too bad some are willing to skin their neighbor to get a shwack at the cat...

okay i have an idea - lets design a truck as a group as what we think it will take to run in the 7's

okay there ya go that's my recipe for a 7.5 sec truck

not hard to build - just expensive as hell to do it right

So if we went on the low side and say it would cost $200K to build this truck and there are what 100 or so active syty members? That's only $2,000 a piece

By no means do I think that our truck will run anywhere near the 7's but we should be well into the 8's. If you look back at our older posts you will find the chassis build pic's. We just got it back from the painter and are now in the process of putting her back together. I will post some more pic's of the progress in about a week. Heres a run down on what the truck will have;

Bowtie block
Bowtie 18 degree heads
Billet crank
Carillo rods
JE Pistons
Sheetmetal intake
Air to Water initercooler
Powerglide
good sized turbo

Race weight close to 3000#

Not sure if we will get her to the track before the snow flies but we are trying.

Jeremy Thanks for your input and the engine Robert thinks he have a couple of "ponies" left in the tuning to unleach (next summer we´ll se about those)

The trans tips, yes that idea I did´nt think of right now and thats sturdy peaces :D

So you think a 9" are the better chois? Whell your the most experienced racer of us (Robert, me,Svenne,) so I take your word for it, and a good point is your thought on weight.. from now we are counting on a race ready truck in 2500 lbs..

No the skyliner transfercase is not (at the moment annyhow) consider a 4WD in OUR thinkin in this truck, we want a true 4WD

Well technically this is a SY

problem solved

When the 4WD is gone and the engine is no longer a V6 + Turbo, in MY thinkin the Syclone consept is dropped and its "just another fast truck" no offence about that..

Still AWD, no pic's on the home page yet. Soon I will have them up under our shop projects page. Stay tuned.

...ahhh, this should be worth seeing and reading about. Please elaborate a bit more...

1. Suspension and chassis selection (like tubular, stockish, 4-link, coilovers, etc)
2. Drivetrain (like engine -v8, v6, oddfire, evenfire, single/twin turbo, tranny, spool, etc)
3. Race or Street/Strip Trim (like street licensed, or track only trim)
4. Additives (like Nitrous, alky, twin-fuel cells for multiple fuels, relative boost, etc).

One of the interesting aspects of a thread like this is seeing what others plan
as a receipe, how it differs from the norm, and what "out of box thinking" is
transformed into working components. So I look forward to learning more about your vehicle. Thanks for posting.

Re: Is a 7.50 Syclone possible??

Once you take "street" out of the equation AWD is out of the question. RWD is the only way "1/4 mile race" cars should be.

Re: Is a 7.50 Syclone possible??

It will be interesting to see what chassis/suspension it takes to get there, but I have no doubt a 7.50 AWD pass is possible.

No one uses AWD because there is no use for it, not many people want to do it because you have a car that doesnt fit into any racing classes.
That's a very good point. I would love to see an AWD only class.

Re: Is a 7.50 Syclone possible??

Any updates? I had a good time re-reading this thread (aside from where it went off-topic) either way.

Are there any new builds that are planning to hit the track this year? (ones for which evidence can be posted...)
