I have also been asked that as well. Thing is there can't be that many clones out there I would think because of the cost of cladding and availability of the cladding I would think. I of course could be very wrong about that though.
I was asked specifically if that was a real Typhoon because he had never actually seen one before, only read about them. Alot of the younger generation don't even know what a Typhoon or Syclone is. Some of the older generation are also very confused about what it is to. I had a guy at Autozone argue with me that my Typhoon was supposed to have a V-8 in it. Another guy said it had the Grand National motor in it. These trucks are getting rarer and rarer and the average person has no clue what it is.

Happened to me when I was in the US getting gas from a pump attendant in NJ. Then he was baffled by my licence plates. Then when I answered with a British accent, that really threw him.
Best time was 3 kids in a Honda giving me the thumbs up (I assume it was a thumbs up) on I95 one time. Pretty cool.

I've had 4 separate people ask me if my syclone was " real" . I'm pretty sure syclone 2518 is real...

One of my fav times out in the truck... I was in NY City parked in front if my ex gfs work building. And I have the drivers window down. Some old black fella, kinda looked like Morgan Freeman, walks up and says, "Haven't seen one of those in quite some time. Yeah.. Those Syclones are mean little trucks." I kinda giggled and said, "Yes they are." Mind you.. My truck sits on Z06 Vette wheels and is badgeless. No way he could've seen the embroidered seats. Surprised the heck out of me!

I've been told nice jimmy with a body kit....my reply was obviously your not a car guy....then last night some guy was trying to tell me they made N/A typhoons and made typhoons for 3 years not 2....I said whatever dude and walked away after he asked me to race him and his buddy in their ****ing cobalt SS....I said no thanks you ****ing toolbox and walked away. ...wtf.....stupid idiot. My old lady was gonna step in and say well you show me a N/A typhoon and she'd buy it....cause that's rare.

My Sy was called a S10, by a Lightning owner, at Grill 57 yesterday. I asked him, did people call his Lightning a F150.
But, a ricer did motion me to lower my window, and asked me if it was a real Syclone.

I would have corrected them and told them its a S15. I personally don't bother arguing with anyone about my truck. If they want listen I will educate them. If they want to teach me them I let them babble on. I bought my truck to be a sleeper anyways.

I was at vatozone a few days ago. The manager knew what my truck was, then an older guy that worked there comes up and says, "no no no you guys, it got the vette motor, just detuned."
We both just looked at him like he's an idiot and continued our conversation.

I got bored with the body kit comments, is it real, etc. Now when people spew out information that is totally wrong I just start adding to it.
One of the best was the guy at the welding store that had a buick that would crack the windshield if he gave it wot. Of course I had to tell him I had a factory v8 twin turbo typhoon at home. It is much more entertaining to do than to try to educate people.
I got bored with the body kit comments, is it real, etc. Now when people spew out information that is totally wrong I just start adding to it.

I don't really correct people unless they ask or say it in that "is that the one with the GN engine or something like that?" Those people I can deal with. I have yet to have anyone try and school me other than the dude I bought it from who had a solid yellow Ty in his shop. He told me all the Tys were black and I told him those were the Syclones and then told him the other colors that the Typhoons came in. He argued and said they only came in Black, White and Yellow.....yeah.

I keep the sales brochure, and window sticker in the Ty for conversations like these. No real arguing with the printed factory info. But I guess that takes some of the fun out of conversations, so I let people go with their misinformation before providing some truth. Kinda fun chatting with a old Camaro/Mustang/Vette/etc.. person who has no clue, then enlightening them on the SyTy details. I am probably just as guilty as non SyTy people spewing junk knowledge on other cars/trucks.
