hey whats up im the proud owner of a syclone just purchased a while back and recently it has begun to make a knocking noise. the noise only comes when the truck is cold and goes away at idle when warmed up. I can also hear the knocking return when i rev the motor but it disappears once the truck goes over 2200 rpm on the tac. i heard that these trucks were prone to making metalic knocking noises with a bent rod but im still unsure. any helpful advice would be much appreciated so let me know thanks!

That kinda goes for any engine.

How deep is the noise?
Ever think about having an oil analysis done?
If it's not that deep a sound, it could be lifters, and something like Valvetune could help it out.

Is the motor original? If it's a GM replacement I'll bet it's gonna have to come out, and that some bearings are F'd.

the truck has the original engine in it with about 63k on it. The noise isnt loud enough to be a piston slap cause i know what those sound like. but someone else has suggested to me that it could be the valves. Im probably gonna end up dropping the truck off at the shop sometime this week so ill let you guys know.

Don't drop that truck at any old shop unless you want the noise to get louder.

If they don't know SyTy or least american Turbos I'd run, and definiteyl stay away form the Stealer on this one. They will rape you over and over for the rest of your ownership.

I know my truck isn't a ty, but its the same engine. My engine was making the same noise last summer. It was just the timing. It was due for a tune-up so we replaced the cap, rotor, and plug wires. I believe the timing was off just a bit. Need to replace the plugs soon too...anyways..im bored
