Is there any easy tranny swap ?

I know GM made AWD Bravada's, AstroVans and a few others in the same age range of the typhoon. I am curious if there are any direct bolt in trannys for an easy fix for a broken typhoon 92 trans. I have a tranny out of a 93 GMC Jimmy 4x4, but i am not sure if that will work or not, any advice would be really appreciated. I am also posting in the Big Thread my issue to see if it is an easy fix.

Thanks.

you'll quickly find out that you can't just use a 700r4 from another non-syty. They are very different trannies in our trucks - you are better off getting a vendor to rebuild yours...or to upgrade to a 4l80e (big $ though)

You can use that trans but you must take it VERY easy on it. Any boosted driving and the regular 4x4 trans will go out in short order. Get a rebuilt torque converter and put on it too. Flush the trans cooler and lines. Run type "F" in the swap trans and make sure your TV cable works correctly.

Search TV cable in the search box and you'll find all kinds of helpful info. TV cable can kill a trans in short order if not adjusted correctly or its damaged/worn out.

The trans from the 93 jimmy looks like it is electronically controlled, do i have to convert it to a TV or should i get a TCI controller instead ? I was looking at a TCI T-com possibly or something like that.

Swoop is doing that next week. I have them if you need one and I can set the harness up for you if you want.

A 4x4 4L60/700r4 will fit our trucks, but its a waste of money and time. If you don't any boost launches and spirited driving it will not last 1000 miles, might not even last 100 miles. If you want any life out of it, you might as well disconnect the turbo, because WOT driving will quick ruin the tranny. In short their is no easy fix.

He kinda backed himself into a corner. He had a bunch of engine work done and didn't leave any for trans failure. It may be better to park it until you can afford to do a 60e swap. I can build those as well and the controller will take all the TV cable nonsense out of the equasion.
