It never effn' ends!!! (damage pic inside)

driving down a 3 lane street when all of the sudden Maria (insert your favorite 6 last names here) Gonzalvo, decides shes gonna make a last minute right turn from the #2 lane, right in front of my sy. i slammed on the brakes and before i know it i plowed into the right rear corner of her car, and spun her around into a 180, just like the cops do on "wildest police chases". needless to say the damage doesnt look that bad, but from what i can see, the bumper cover, bumper support, grille, front right cladding, tranny cooler, grille letters, syclone plate, fan shroud, and radiator support all need to be replaced. not too mention my alignment is all eff'd up and now my truck is idling rough wtf?!?! oh! and what happend to her car you ask? NOTHING! a small dent in the bumper and its slightly pushed up. i havent even gotten my settlement from the first accident in this effn truck and son of a bitch i get into another one! when will people pull thier head outta thier ass and learn how to drive!!!!! PS sorry for such a big pic

I really am sorry to hear of your misfortune... I've been hunting vibration/suspension problems for awhile and have now only just finally solved 99% of them... Get the GM listing for part costs and make sure the adjuster knows them.
If your lucky you could get enough outa the damage to buy yourself a new hood,chip, or turbo.

damn, that really sucks. it still looks better than mine does right now. I guess that billet grille was destin(sp?) to be smashed whether on your truck or mine. Maybe thats where my bad luck came from? :evil: Thats a good 2500 worth of damage, just dont let it sit at the body shop for 6 months this time :wink:

well fortunately no body work is required, so i can pretty much do everything myself, all ill need to do is find the parts and get them painted, which shouldnt be too hard. and like ian said maybe ill have some left over cash to get some parts, cause i need a new propshaft bad! if one more thing happens to this truck im gonna be convinced that the devils number isnt 666 its 1931 :evil:

same happened to me. lrft front damage also requiring new bumper cladding which is still available. fortunately the other driver had insurance
so the car is being fixed at no cost to me. what has me concerned tho is
that it has lost value regardless of how well it as repaired. i am going to
bring this up with the other driver's insurance co and see what they will do
(most likely nothing). i will look into taking the driver to small claims court
and find out if i can recover what i believe is the loss in resale value.

hey, i know this is kinda getting off the topic, but i guess if your talking to gm, you might know: is it possible to get the metal support and NOT the fascia? mine is bent but amazingly the plastic is still intact

:lol: been there done that last year when i got rearended on the freeway by a porsche goin 60! and they still wouldnt total it!
i looked over my truck more today, and noticed the radiator itself is bent and my right fender is also bent, which is good since i have ghost flames, all i need to do is say i need to have that fixed and repainted, and cha ching! more cash for custom paint, i wonder if i could get more and say theyll never be able to match flames hmmmm :lol: after all the BS from my last accident, im out to screw the insurance companies for as much as i can get! might as well get back some of m $180 a month i have to pay. anyway i filed my claim already, and ill post how much my settlement is, i cant wait to lay into the adjuster for full pop on every effn part!

The Sy/Ty/SoGT front bumper cladding and metal support go for $985 and $515, respectively. 2 seperate part numbers and available seperately only. They were available for these prices as of Dec 2001 and I have no reason to beleive that information is not still current.

my ty is not a total loss. it did require a front bumper assembly. brackets, grille and left turn indicator. the bumper assy and brackets are still avail-able from gmpartsdirect.com. the grille is stock jimmy. i am not too happy with the bumper cladding as the ends where they curve around the wheel wells stick out too much. the shop says it's gm but i think it might
be a gypsy part. also some overspray, missing under hood lamp and rubber hood stop. so it's back to the shop and more hassle!

My new front bumper is not perfect either. I think the cladding was not made very accurately by GM.
