I just had my headers and DP (in and out) coated with the jet hot 2000. I have a buddy down here that claims coating dont do jack for heat.
I put a probe into a 3" pc of coated downpipe and went 3 minutes over a burner. outside temp was 1250* Inside was 1227* range. Some fluctuations, I think air was getting sucked through the pipe.
Untreated pipe was wiithin 20* of the treated.
I used an HVAC probe and test unit. Probe being centered in both pipes
I then (being a little pissed) subjected the coating to 3 minutes at 2800* the coating did not fail but did change from a grey to a white. I think this stuff will prolong the life of a set of $1000 headers but if you want heat protection you had better wrap them too!
damn......Lost another argument
