My boy T-Bone (Shaun) has a shiny low mile Saleen Mustang in his garage.I just know it is SC.Could be modded but who knows?

Shit I don't know jack about Mustangs. Not the newest body style, the newest before the latest change. So what is that,03-04-05? :dunno:

Anyway, you guys know he talks a big game.I know I ain't scared of it.

If we run them (when I'm sure) who will win?

Re: Jimmy VS SC Saleen Mustang

I have an SC Saleen too, 2004. Mine has a few mods and runs real well. I've got to say, mine is maybe right there with a well driven Sy Ty. I have 315 DR's on back so grips not much of an issue any longer (stock, forget it....I put down a 100 foot patch in 2nd gear). They are fast for sure. Mine is stock at 375hp, likely 410 or so now.

Cool cars, crap for quality. I'm keeping mine for a bit hoping the values rise. I see me taking it to Barret Jackson in 20 years with less than 20K miles.

Re: Jimmy VS SC Saleen Mustang

Hi there BUDDY :). Let's get this all out in the air from the start. The Saleen is a 2004 (7,200 miles) with the 3:27's replaced with 3:73 FR gears in January. In stock form, it is rated 375 HP / 425 FPT. From a dig, you will toast me cause I am running street compound 295's. With traction control off, I spin in 1st and 2nd.....and under boost, forget-about-it. It is ugly.....sounds and looks good but not at all propulsion friendly. 3rd on, it is a roastin machine. With traction control on, it shuts down the power near 4,000 rpm in 1st and 2nd. Either way, I can't win unless we go from a roll at about 30-35 mph and I know that is definately not to your liking OR advantage :(. Since you are apparently feeling your oats, consider this along with our forum brethren...."My boy T-Bone (Shaun) has a shiny low mile Syclone in his garage.I just know it is TC.Could be modded but who knows? Anyway, you guys know he talks a big game.I know I ain't scared of it (but I am a bit worried). If we run them (when I'm sure) who will win?" HEEHEEHEE

Run from a stop and from a highway speed. Each person is happy and you get a good idea of each cars performance.

It's a sweet car Shaun. :D

I need to take you for a spin. I think in the last 8 months I have put about 250 miles on it. You'll be a great reason to add another 20 and peel some rubber off the rear tires. I should have replaced the original tires with the OEM Pirelli P-Rosso's. At least they had a good traction rating and gripped better.....If you wanna run the Ty against it, you are welcome to do so. I jumped 2 car lengths on the SRT/10 from about 20 mph but then no change gaining or losing the distance up to 130 and shifting at 5,500 rpm. Since you waxed the SRT/10 from a dig, there's no reason for me to think the outcome will be any different with the Saleen since it and the SRT/10 performed about equal :). What can I say.....you da man!! (until you tangle with the Syclone).

I had a 2001 stage 3 stang. They are fast. Off the line a mild mod syty could take it but up in the higher MPH watch out. I never took mine to the track but the dyno said I was making 400+ to the wheels with some bolt on mods. Highway it felt way faster then my SY, low end its prety close but my Sy is quicker.

Well stated. If I could hook, the Saleen would be a contender for sure but that is the beauty of a Sy or Ty. Not much is gonna get a well modded one through the 1/4.

Re: Jimmy VS SC Saleen Mustang

Like I said, get some 315 DR's on the back and thae traction deal is largely solved. I think it would be a close race, my Sy against my Saleen.

Advantage Jimmy from a dig.....Advantage T-Bone from a 25 mph roll. I see one thing developing right now; the Ty and the Saleen are gonna have to fight it out to solve this debate. Afterwards, we can test a mildly modded Syclone against a heavily modded Typhoon and see who wins. Of course, all of the runs will be televised during prime-time for our SyTy viewing community .

Re: Jimmy VS SC Saleen Mustang

Even though I have one, Saleens blow! I drove mine yesterday and it's just a chore. Brakes and steering are both too hard, the short shifter I put in is too short, exhaust too loud. I'm thinking I'm going to put it back to stock, it's just too obnoxious. I suppose all is relative, before I bought the V, I loved it. Drive the V and then hop into the Saleen and wow, what a POS.

Time to sell soon I think.

I'd consider it but I really have no use for his Typhoon and I couldn't bear the thought of him sobbing everytime he drove past my house and saw it sitting in the driveway.

Re: Jimmy VS SC Saleen Mustang

I (kinda) raced a 1998 cobra, super charged, and he wouldnt race me from a stop. urgh... He got on the highway, and he punched it, followed by me pulling on him, till about 75-80, then he started pulling away, and I let off with a frown. He was an ass, bragging when I know I could of beat him from a stop, it was slower than I thought it would be. Now, the ones with the body change in 99', never ran across one, so I have no idea of what kind ofpower they have. SO, good luck and give SY/TY a good name!

Stock, there is about a 90 HP and 105 FPT +up on the 03-04 Cobra over the 99. Also, Jimmy always represents well and that is commendable when you take into consideration Sy's and Ty's are 14-16 y.o. competing with modern technology.
