I have never heard of any SyTy hitting low 11s "easily" regardless of parts...

I disagree with that.

in 2004 I started at 11.9, brought harry anderson into the process and ended the year at 9.93.

blowing thru the 11's was easy.

didnt start adding parts till getting into the 10's.

got into the 10's with;

dfi tuning from harry
412 cam
50lb injectors
pte 60 turbo
caltracs
green dot retread radials

however geting anymore out of it required cam change, larger turbo and then to go 9's changed the compressor wheel.

go back and search. It was like evertime we went to the track it went faster, cuz it did. Many here got tired of reading each and everyweek my new best time...

btw 11's was more fun than going faster. less expensive to. :)

If I remember right you were 'stuck' in the low 12's and high 11's the prior until you got Harry involved.

It depends on what you consider easy. If bolt on parts to run low 11's, it take some tuning not just off the shelf part. It seems like with some cars, you can mail order a 11 sec car (ie an EVO, Supra, 03-04 Cobra, Grand National, Corvette Z06 etc.), you just have to be able to get traction (ie sticky tires with RWD) and drive it to its potential.

exactly I was stuck at 12.1 using a chip, took the "infamous visor" off, the truck imediatley went 11.9 w/ no other changes and thats as fast as it went in 2003 till harry had me change over to dfi for the 2004 season and he began tuning.

but the same parts that left me stuck on a custom chip got me into the high 10's with harry in charge of the tuning and the combination.

thats a pretty nice time drop. i'm going to have to check some of your back threads. you were already in the 9s when i got my truck. did you switch to dfi because harry was familiar with it or was there another reason? i only ask because i have a fast xfi.

I didnt care one way or another which engine management.

I put 100% of my faith behind harry and went with his recommendations on everything.

to be perfectly honest, I knew i could put it together,& learn to drive it, But i didnt have a clue what to use beyond the std recipe you see around this board.

the results due to harry speak for themselves.

The heaviest hitters in SyTy world don't post. Or rarely if ever, anyway. I know of two trucks offhand that would give Robert a run for his money, but they are more interested in making a few bucks on the street.

And no, I'm not talking about myself. I wish, lol.

What is the "infamous visor" removal? Sun visor? Sorry, i'm retarded. Thanks.

I think this is the KEY to all of these people wondering how to go fast. If you are more comfortable with DFI go that route. Key here is TUNING. As ed said off the shelf chip only got him so far.

Now keep in mind Tuning is more than just the computer also. How much boost to launch at, how fast to increase boost, how much, what shock setting, do I limit front end travel, air pressure in tires, ......

When you start to tune and learn what is going on, you will magically find yourself understanding what parts to buy and which ones not to buy.

On to the fast trucks. There are other fast trucks out there, every owner has their own idea and motive on what to build, why, and where to run it. Although I am not a street racer I do know a lot of money is exchanged. The game in street racing is secrets and not telling others what you really have, keep them guessing.

Well I'm not a heavy hitter but.... I hope to get a couple of sub 10sec runs in this year. I've been et and mph wise in the 1000' to do 10.50@ 130 On a soft 1.65 60' and low (22-23psi) boost on 93 and alki.

I thought 22 was low boost once also. hmmmm

How the heck did I get to 5psi of boost and think it was fairly fast?

I think Maverick87 might be one of the fastest trucks so far on code59, be curious to see how far he can go with it.

i respect you keeping quiet but maybe you can prod them into coming out unless they're making a living on thier trucks. i know of one out there thats an active member and i was hoping to see some updates from him too.

The ones that I know of dont exactly make a "living" on their trucks, but when they race, it's not for peanuts either :)

Also, by no means do I know everyone there is with a fast truck ;)
