Just another launch pic

But no smoke like some people we know.

The photog says I'm turning the fronts. I've looked very close at the original and, to me, it's just a maybe. I know I'm turning the rears because the truck will move a bit to the side on launch. (Still on the stock rear brakes and try as I might I can't hold more than about 5#.) Photo was taken at 1/250.

The big boys (and girls) will be in town in a couple of weeks and I have tickets for Friday which includes night racing. Really looking forward to that.

Re: Just another launch pic

hey nice shot, although fortunately i don't suffer from the issue of not holding boost (believe it or not i can hold 15psi on street tires :dunno: ) i've come across alot of the issues searching for other stuff, and seems to me that the problem lies in the proportioning valve. Read a thread where someone solved the problem by putting in a solonoid that opens when switched on to let full pressure to the rears. seems like an obvious problem with the proportioning valve. try an adjustable one along with new/properly adjusted rears. I'm assuming it's either a manufacturing difference, or a problem W/ age. Does your truck nose dive hard when stopping hard?

P.S. Sorry to hijack!

Re: Just another launch pic

Well I wasn't really trying to start a thread per se so no hijack as far as I'm concerned. I'll look into that valve though, thanks.

you hit the 12s yet, Don?

Close, 13.09. You can bet that I'll post the slip when I get it! I was gonna do the rear brake "upgrade" trick but this proportioning valve thing has me interested. Like I said, pretty much unable to hold more than 5# boost without turning the rears at the line which makes my 60' times no better than 1.78 or 9. Not bad but if I could hold more I think the truck would be quicker. I have a TC lockup sw which, for me, seems to help also.

Also the fact of the matter is that Infineon usually has a fairly stout headwind which doesn't help. I've talked to people who say that between Sacramento, Bakersfield and Infineon, Infineon is the slowest. At least for "street" cars. No plans for Bakersfield but hope to make Sac this year.

Your comments welcome.

Re: Just another launch pic

And another run tonight @ 13.039. Every week a tiny bit closer. Just wait 'till I get them rear brakes done.

Second place again tonight. No racing next week 'cuz the nat's are in town. Downside; another racer friends car broke.

BTW Brandon, let me know when you go to Sac. Maybe we can go together.
