Just Give Me a Break!

After finally fixing my egr and alt. prob, I took the truck out for the first time in 3 weeks. Oh YEAH! Happy faces  ...until I gave the throtle a little nudge...well a big nudge...and noticed that the truck will not go over 3500 rpm. It starts to pull hard like always, then just kinda stops and shifts and then still stops at 3500. I had some vacum leaks around my bov, but fixed those. What else could this be. I can't take this anymore, I've spent more time working on this truck then driving it!

Re: Just Give Me a Break!

If it's pulling at 3500 and just shifts up what happens when it's done shifting? If it still quits at 3500 then I'd check ignition first fuel a close second. If it runs fine beyond 3500 in high gear then I'd check the TV cable adjustment. Just my :2cents: on some places to start.

Re: Just Give Me a Break!

Cruising around the main streets of my small town, at a steady 25 mph, sy does fine. But when I gave her some gas, it starts to pull and the turbo is spoolin and everything, then it just stops excelerating and just stays at 3500. I'm new to this truck, so a thing i could start out with is the ignition you said, then the fuel, how would i check the fuel? sorry for the nooby question. I usually work with carbs on old cars, NOT EFI!

Re: Just Give Me a Break!

Tell us exactly what it does when it hits 3500. Does it immediately start running rough? Quit altogether until revs come below 3500? Is it always right at 3500 every time. What happens if you floor it? Will it go past 3500? Shift at 3500?

Fuel pressure is checked at a fitting on the fuel rail, drivers side. Looks like a tire valve, even has a schrader valve inside. You'll need a gauge. I had a bad coil once. Would run real ruff as soon as boost came in. If runs fine, just shifts at 3500 then your TV cable may be outa whack That's the cable that tells the trans how much throttle you're using. Do a search, very easy to adjust.

Suddenly occurs to me you're not getting full throttle. Have someone hold the pedal full down and check at the throttle body.

Kinda lost without more details.

Re: Just Give Me a Break!

Sorry i am keeping you in the dark detail wise, hard to explain. Here we go...I flore it from a stop, it acts normal. then it hits 3500, and its like i let off the throtle a little bit(stops excelerating hard) it is shifting though, but i only ran it a good 5 minits, so i dont remember how it was shifting! I had my trans rebuilt 3 months ago, but havent drivin sy that much. when it hits 35, its like its not downshifting to let the motor do its thing. oh god i can not explain things, tomoro ima go drive it again, and give you full details.
