I went with a 40 series FLOWMASTER because I didnt want a cat back "setup" and love the sound on my 96'z with a FLOW. Well it is a 2.5" to 3" custom magnaflow cat....to a 3" center to center 40 series....then 3" pipe all the way back to a 2.5" stainless angled tip. Will the sound change a little when I put a few miles on it? Luckily it doesnt really sound like a raspy v6, but when I really get on it .... its like the truck goes SUPER QUIET, lol. Thanks guys ---

*ps the guys kept INSISTING I already had a custom setup on it, it was just a cat, then y-pipe to two TURBO muffs all out back 2.5"s. That is stock right?! I dont think they really knew my truck wasnt just an s10?! ---

*pps I wanted to go NO muff ( original plans ) but 3 shops turned me down , said I wouldnt pass inspection :( ---

I don't think our truck ever get raspy. The turbi itself muffler the exhaust. If you want loud, get a biggger turbo, 3" downpipe, no cat, & a straight through muffler.

2 Dynomax super turbo mufflers is the stock setup.

Re: Just got muffler installed, not loud enough!!! ---

Shit, when I had the stock exaust it cracked and came apart before the cat, I kept overboosting and didnt know why, it was barely louder than usual  You should have told the shops to run it with no muffler and see how quiet it is, then they would have changed their tune.

If I couldnt pass without a muff I doubt I could pass without a cat ;) ....thanks guys; but will it get louder as I drive it more or just stay the same I wonder?! ---

it will get louder w time but i would run a magnaflow because .there is barely any restriction and if you want sound you could use the bullet style muffler that are shorter in length

Re: Socal Trucks Needed For Exhaust Prototype
well it looks like we may have a typhoon volunteer from San Diego, and a syclone from Riverside. Our biggest consern is that the factory cat is in the stock location so we can have an accurate fixture for future trouble free installations.

We will touch base on tuesday and try to set up a time when it is convinient for you all.

As for why we decided to manufactor exhaust systems, 15 years after the release of these trucks. For one, oem and aftermarket support is pretty much non existant. As trucks get older, and sold to different owners, often times parts fail and/or get replaced with the wrong parts. We see so many trucks come in with flowmaster mufflers, and as a result spend hundreds of dollars with others shops trying to diagnoise why their truck runs so poorly. Come to find out the "high performance" muffler actually increased the backpressure so much it literally melts and cloggs the catalytic converter, greatly hindering performance, gas milage and driveability. So we figured there are still trucks out there with rusted factory exhaust, the wrong exhaust, or just wanted increased performance and sound for their truck.

Flows change after about 500 miles. Flowmasters being a baffle type muffler add back pressure and you will lose some power.

I replaced my cat and with just a downpipe the truck was too loud and sounded like crap. It idled like a mild v-8 but wot it sounded to raspy. It sounds good with just a cat and I might remove my uffler when I get a chance.

Mine had a Flowmaster 40 series I believe when I bought it. I am serious when I say its quieter with no muffler than with the Flowmaster. Plus it may just be me, but it feels more responsive than before.
DONT do the Flowmaster!!!!
Listen to all the words of experience from above posts, you cant just put on whatever parts you want there is some science involved in this. Well you could put on whatever you want it will just go slower, is that what your looking for LOL!!! Im just kidding, but really NO FLOW!!!

I thought stock systems were two flowmasters stacked side-by-side? I remember taking off our stock system and seeing "flowmaster" on the case of the mufflers.:squint:

The stock system had 2 dynomax super turbo muffler side by side 2.5 inlet and outlet.

the flowmaster is definately not the muffler of choice on a forced induction application.

no it goes before or after the cat... using that will by pass the muffler and the cat depending where you put it in at.. mine is right off the downpipe so no cat or muffler gets used when i have it opened.

How hard would it be to pass inspection using one of those?! I think that is going to be my next option if I can hide it good enough ( or if its legal in MO that is ) :) ---
