well i shouldnt have put th400 in there, but i know a th350 can be built pretty inexpensive and they can handle a lot.Black Knight said:Yes, some guys use them.
So a TH400 is cheaper to build then a 4L80E? Hmmmm, i've read the 4L80E was very inexpensive to build.
i pretty sure the 700r4 and the 4l60e are the same way, pretty much the same. correct me if im wrong.JS Manufacturing said:the 80e has 75% of th400 parts inside, GM really based it off the th400 and several parts interchange exactly.

scrape said:does anyone use th350 or 400 trannies in these trucks? everyone always talks about 700r4, 4l60 and 80e, but not the th350 or 400. in my opinion the th350 and 400s are a better transmission, cheaper to buy and build and take more abuse. :2cents:

crusader8 said:4l80E...inexpensive? not sure thats all that true
JS Manufacturing said:I would say typical install will be ~$4k-5k
$1200 conversion kit
$1000 convertor
Leaves you enough for controller, trans, rebuild.
It sounds expensive, ok it is expensive. BUT the majority of the cost is converting. If you should break it after that, your looking at super cheap fixes. The tranny itself isn't much of the cost, it is all the conversion pieces (computer, kit, convertor, etc.)
