probably a question thats stupid but the kb afpr
which way does the bolt turn to make run rich and to lean out
counterclockwise more fuel? clockwise less fuel?

Clockwise=more fuel pressure
Counterclockwise = less fuel pressure

Check fuel pressure with the regulator vacuum hose off and plugged.
