Okay, kinda off topic here. I know that the price set for the Ty's and Sy's are pretty much determined by the market/owners/how much someone is willing to spend/etc.

I used 3 examples on both websites, same information on both, here's what I got:

92 Typhoon
170k miles
Good Condition

KBB:
Private Party: $8,750
Dealer Retail: $12,115

Edmunds:
Private Party: $4,349
Dealer Retail: $6,844

__________________________________________________________________________
91 Syclone
100k miles
Good Condition

KBB:
Private Party $9,300
Dealer Retail: $10,950

Edmunds:
Private Party: $4,616
Dealer Retail: $6,224

97 Dodge Viper GTS Coupe
75k miles
Good Condition

KBB:
Private Party: $29,125
Dealer Retail: $35,790

Edmunds:
Private Party: $26,547
Dealer Retail: $30,311

Obviously, if I ever go to sell my car, I will be pointing them towards KBB. Does anyone know why the two vary so much ($3,000) in their pricing reports? Like I said, a vehicle's asking/selling price are determined by the market/owners/etc, but this is just out of curiosity.

I mark KBB because that what the Ins. companies use and we all know how much you have to fight with them when our toys get bang up. I had a muscle car that edmunds said was basically worthless. I sold it for 4.5 times the amount I paid for it.

Yeah, but when you go to the dealer with your kbb or edmunds numbers in your head the dealer will pull out a completely different book and quote you prices so low that it insults your intelligence. Anybody know where to get that book the dealers use?

We would use the auction version of Blackbook, it's up to date, prices that they are going for at the auction.

Typically, 5% or so back of KBB trade, but lately any fullsize suv really sucks. Right now I think the Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon/Yukon XL, have the lowest wholesale values, everyone is trying to dumb them getting ready for the new body.

NADA is suposed to base on retail dealer sales. Anyways, of you two vehicle I would pick the above pricing as the most accurate for private party sales. It looks like KBB isn't deducting enough for miles. Sometime books don't add enough for low miles either. Edmunds just looks really low, except for it works for the case of super high miles... You may want to look at KBB unadjusted values and do you own adjustment for miles...

Try to sell a truck for what NADA, KBB and Edmunds say. You'll tell them to pound sand.
