That is the same thing mine would do, I would connect at the lower settings and 60 sec later it would get to ~5V and then it wouldn't take any more current. (Current would to go 0 amps) Then it set the fault code.

That's encouraging, thanks for the tip, I'll post back once I find out if it works for either of my batteries.
