Kill: ZO6 & new Hemi

2 kills in one nite:

1st was at the track (1/8th)....minding my own business in the staging lanes when some kid in a black ZO6 (405) pulls up, rolls down the window, and gives my truck a weird look and snicker. Track was horrible as I was slipping to 1.8 sixties and had been .2 off my ET all nite, plus he wasn't much of a driver apparentely.....result.....I went 7.72 to his 8.83. Looked absolutely ridiculous to the people watching. I hate beating a fellow GM (esp. a good car being misdriven), but punks come in all different flavors.

2nd was on the way home from the track....bout to fall asleep on the interstate when a new Hemi Ram comes up and starts raising all kinds of hell next to me. Didn't really wanna play, but he kept on. I drop it to D at about 65 and pull even with him. I get the edge on the punch, but it wouldn't have really mattered either way. After what seemed like a 70 car length difference I get out of it. He catches up and gooses it once more as I hit the off ramp. Oh well, lesson taught.

Stepping off the sandbox now,

Michael

Mods are on website.....best times are 7.5-7.6 @ 90-92 mph with 1.6 sixty foots on only 16 psi. Like I said, track was crappy (always is) and I could leave with 8 psi or 0 psi and it still spun like hell. Would like to get 7.30s-7.40s out of it before winter. Shouldn't be too hard as 16 psi is barely breathing.....

Jeff....good to hear from you too. Glad to see the truck is coming along nicely (and properly :D ).

Dubb....you know how it is....the truck is/was/and always will be a GA truck. Crossing state lines on it's own 4 feet is STRICTLY forbidden. Hell, everytime I get near the coast, she starts bucking and popping. Now as for hauling her elsewhere, well....we'll see, but you'll prolly never see the truck at nats (unless they're in GA)....besides, you see one SyTy you've seen 'em all, right?

BTW, anytime you need something performance related, gimme a holler....gotta make owning a parts store worth it to someone other than Waller :)

Great kills, Michael - good to hear from you. The last time I was at the 1/8 mile track this fall (a couple of weeks ago) I got a new red Z06 next to me. I was so excited I could barely stand it - I didn't have a good race all night. I ran a 7.77 and he ran an 8.8x as well - I was very disapointed. I watched him run two more times with the same results, he actually hit 9's on his last run of the night. Those things must really depend on the driver; although it didn't look like this guy was doing anything really wrong. I briefly talked to him at the end of the night and he wasn't happy with the way things were going.

That Georgia pride thing, everytime I MENTION the word "Georgia" my wife starts to tear up - I will always be known by her daddy as the Yankee who took her little girl to a foreign country!
