L35 heads- LB4 heads can you tell the difference?

I was wondering if you can tell any difference between the stock LB4 heads & the L35 heads externally?
Like with the valve covers on ,engine/accessories all hooked up & so-on.
Can you see any difference with everything all in place?

Thanks!!!

Yes. L35's have two "coolant holes"..(for lack of a better word @ 2AM)..stock syty heads only have one.

these are L35's.....

Intake ports have hump at the top of them.

Isn't the additional coolant holes what tooky had, but it turned out to be LB4's?

If the motors in the trucks, You could always look to see it orignally had a if the glove box had L35 and I think the 8 digit of the Vin also had a diiferent engine digit as well W for L35, Z is for LB4.

I thought he had an engine replacement at one time from GM and they put the long block with L35s in as a warranty replacement crate motor.

I could be wrong, but I remember him catching a RASH of shit at the Chitown Nats over his heads and later when he took the valve covers off I think he found he actually had LB4 heads all along. Or something to that effect.

If you're going for a sleeper mod 99% of the people out there wouldn't know the difference between an LB4 and an L35 head sitting on a bench much less crammed into the engine compartment covered up with all our crap.

That is my main goal, being a street sleeper. ;)

on the street I would doubt if most could tell the difference between stock and a vortec conversion.

Just get the lower sanded and powdercoated to hide the welds.

Those that can tell will already know what they are against anyway. From the slew of other mods you'll have.
