Largest displacement Syclone motor?

Broke Ass Racing
Out of curiousity, what are the largest displacement Syclone motors that are running around. Bowtie block setups included. Thanks!

There's a V8 Ty for sale on here that used to be a big-block I believe.

LOL, I meant Syclone V6 based. :)

Oh. I've got the goodies to build about a 300 incher at the house but it'll prolly end up in my Dad's S-10.

EDIT: about a 282 incher. STD bore X 3.75 stroke.

Re: Largest displacement Syclone motor?

300" is I think the largest I have heard of....it might have been a Stokes stroker motor. I'm sure someone who is actually smart will chime in soon, because I'm kind of dumb person.

EDIT

Just came across this....but dunno if anyone has ever done it or not.

10134371 V6 Aluminum Block
This new and best-ever V6/90º aluminum block is improved to withstand the ever increasing power levels that today's racing is imposing. This new design will accommodate 4.125" cylinder bores and 4.00" stroke crankshafts. This offers the flexibility to build engines ranging from 3.0-liters (180 cid) to more than 5.2-liters (320 cid). The block is designed for standard 2.45" diameter (350 cid small-block) main bearing inserts. The new block is cast from prime ingot A-356 aluminum and heat treated to T-6 specifications, providing an ultimate strength of 37,500 psi. The deck surface is .620" thick and the front and rear bulkheads are reinforced. The head bolt holes are blind-tapped to eliminate coolant leaks. The flared head bolt bosses can be drilled to full depth for full HO turbocharged applications. New four-bolt main bearing caps were designed for the block. They are machined from 4340 chrome-moly steel and their mating surfaces are precision ground. The oil system has been upgraded to provide trouble-free lubrication at high rpm. It features V8-style oiling with three oil galleries above the cam tunnel. There are no provisions for a mechanical fuel pump. Eliminating the fuel pump boss significantly improves coolant flow. These blocks weigh 74 lbs.

...a little birdie tells me that someone on here has built a 305 c.i. V6 going into a pro-street truck (that's all I can say).

She should be a goer!

Re: Largest displacement Syclone motor?

mine was going to be (still could be if someone bought the parts) like 283 or something close i think.
4.030 x 3.75

the dark side has pulled me in however, and 408 is more than 283 ;)

Re: Largest displacement Syclone motor?

Mine is 311 cubic inches as is Jason Leach's. :D

Here's mine and it's close to being ready to fire off, followed by some dyno time. :D

My understanding is the Aluminum blocks are not as strong as the regular bowtie blocks, so I dont under stand why you would want to go bigger and make more power if the block can't handle it??? 74lbs is pretty badass though

Re: Largest displacement Syclone motor?

In terms of common SBC displace ment, a common 396 is 4.030 with a 3.875 stroke (close to the max a production block will take), 420 is 4.155 with a 3.875 stoke, this is close what a production 400 block will take in terms of stroke.

A V6 Bowtie block with 4.155 bore and 3.875 stroke would be a 315 cubic inch. (I would those 311 are 4.125" bore with a 3.875 stroke. I imagine a bowtie 4.3 would atleast match a production SBC in terms of stroke.

For Bowtie SBC's 434 is a 4.155 with a 4 stroke and a 448 is with a 4.125 stoke. The largest big inch SBC I have 'commonly' seen is a 454 which is a 4.185 with 4.125" stroke.

I don't know if the bowtie block can be clearance to take a 4" or 4.125 stroke but they would be with 4.155 bore a 325 w/4" stroke and 335 with a 4.125" stroke. I am not sure if these are possible with low compression motor (ie they may end up with short connecting rods)

Re: Largest displacement Syclone motor?

I just finished building a 310 and a 308. both should make close to 1khp.

I can never get an answer out of Mike GHETTOSLED about what size engine he has.
Maybe I need to ask the guy w/a rotary powered Datsun 510? ;)

Re: Largest displacement Syclone motor?

my truck is 4.155 with a 3.4 stroke (de-stroked) Put together with whatever good used parts i could find at the time.. still makes 1200 with small turbos and only 24psi.

now that i put an alternator, and one of our coil over suspension kits on the front, it drives nice on the street :)
