Yesterday I met a dude who showed me a converted Aussie left-hand holden ute. If you have not seen one (as they are from Australia) heres a link with pictures

The company (Left Hand Utes) is apparently based in Denver, CO and has the following website if your curious or mildly interested

Apparently they put any type of drive-line into the holden platform (but I wasn't able to talk at length with the gentleman to know if they could/would do a Sy AWD Type version of their vehicle).
Anyways, it appears that GM dropped the El Camino/Holden and guys like this are picking up the slack so their may be hope for the future. The vehicle he showed me was white, with an LS3, 5 or 6 speed, with large blacked out corvette-ish wheels (and looked better in person than I would have thought). Since both of us were in a hurry, we quickly exchanged contact info and I drove off into the sunset....
