I bought some GM trans stuff the other day but there are two items that he said were discontinued in 93 that I believe are still available (my own research). Can anyone thats a GM parts person run these numbers to double check for me or see if they cross to an updated number?

24207604 3-4 clutch steels "lindered" process .105" thick
24216939 3-3 clutch steels "lindered" process .097" thick

TIA

Part # 24216939 has been replaced by 24220129 and stock is available from GM. Part # 24207604 according to GM, requires special handling as the replacement depends on application. This means your GM parts man has to call partech and speak to someone to get the new #. I used to be a GM parts manager so I still know the password to check availability with GM parts. If your parts man tells you that something is discontinued but it isn't, he just doesn't want to help you. Hope this helps--I would try another GM parts dept.

Thanks for the info.. My parts guy is a friend of a friend type deal and if he's busy then I get low priority (which he was when I stopped by).. You'd think someone buying $700 bucks worth of parts at the counter might get a little extra effort but I guess 7 bills isnt much in the grand scheme of things. :-?

Nope.. Kolene steels and lindered steels are two different things. Kolene is a coating that wears off eventually and "lindering" is a finishing/grinding process that is done to the steels when they are manufactured.

Lindering gives you that same smooth surface that kolene does but it doesnt wear off... just fyi..
