Re: Looks like another entry for the Graveyard

I saw it on there the other day, it's a shame, it was apparently a nice truck. I'm curious how many Green/grays are still around, this is the second burned one within the last ~6 months, I have Trapper's old Ty (green/gray), but there was absolutely no way to fix it.

Looks like the fire started in the heater or the glovebox. There are still alot of good parts on that Ty.

^LOL I'm gonna guess it had a fuel leak, it looks like the worst part of the fire was about where the lines hook up to the fuel pressure regulator.

looks to be completely salvageable to me. From the pics and the link I don't see any severe structural damage, it all appears to be aesthetic. Before you go blasting me apart, I'm by no means saying this is a simple weekend job - I just see a lot of life left in this one.

Re: Looks like another entry for the Graveyard

I looks like a minimum of SY/TY specific parts got toasted. That is nothing to alot of the stuff I have seen fixed. That could honestly be fixed within a week at a shop that is used to rebuilds. It may not be perfect once they got done with it, but it would be OK for most people.

The sale date has not been set yet, the date listed is the expected sale date. The preliminary bid doesn't really tell you much anyway, all it's good for is letting you know the rough minimum that it can go for (excluding sales fees).

I'd bid on that if I had the space. Def doable like you guys say.

The auction reckons 10k to fix though. Even the cladding makes it a 3k parts truck.....

a week? So you think in 40 hours that truck would look almost as good as new? You are smoking some serious crack rocks my friend.

that firewall is gonna be warped bad, used to rebuilds on not fire does weird things to metal not to mention the hose happy fire department cooling the metal rapidly

Yeah. I have seen far worse completed less time. If they had a parts truck ready to go- less than a week. The dash/interior could be out in a few hours. The firewall could be cleared in a few more. A day or two to get the engine harness and rubber stuff replaced while prepping a new hood for paint. 8 hours to reinstall the parts truck dash and heater box etc. Day 5 paint. It's not going to be perfection, but it can easily be done.

Not to mention that the smoke smell, almost all the interior will have to be cleaned/washed. It can be saved, but is it worth it in the end? It's a green/gray so might be worth the try. But probably go for a couple grand and then there's 3500 or more to fix it up.

Re: Looks like another entry for the Graveyard

After rebuilding this truck, I'm done for a while on the resurrecting (unless it's something very rare). It is almost always worse than it looks. As stated above, the firewall is going to need bodywork, as it will be warped. Pretty much the entire interior that is not hard plastic will have to be replaced, the things that are salvageable will have to be thoroughly cleaned. I don't agree with some SyTy's that have been parted out, but sometimes it's just a more realistic choice to make.
