lost trany part, need input

switchhappy!!!
yesterdy i changed my boostvalve and pr.valve. everything went fine, but when i removed the
second valve lineup (the one where you just grind a small flat on the middle land) it jumped on me in a vicious manner and the whole lineup went airborne.....
I found most of the parts except the little washer with the ofset hole in it.
it´s the one right under the retainer clip on the right side, half way down in this pic:
http://www.syty.huryde.com/?page_id=42
where can i buy a new one? or can i fabricate one, given someone provides me with the exact dimensions? what are my options?
please help!!!

Re: lost trany part, need input

thanks a lot TYTILIDIE. just tell me the shipingcosts and i paypal you the money.
since i´m in austria my local tranyshop would be more than lost with that issue.
do you run a shop? I think my lockupsolenoid is also on it´s way out. there was no rattling sound when i shook it, had to hit it on my palm to break loose whatever is inside of that thing. now it´s rattling again but i guess i will change it anyways.
i´ll send you my adress per pm.
thanks for the help

Re: lost trany part, need input

Ill send it off, send you the shipping and you can pay me later. I just noticed you are in Austria. I dont own a shop but have three spare trannies laying around and can get that part easily. Ill send it off Monday and give you the details. If its under 10-15 im not even worried about it.

Re: lost trany part, need input

If your talking about the TCC valve, do NOT grind anything on it. Just clean it up and put it back in. Only valve that should be ground is the pressure regulator valve.

Re: lost trany part, need input

thanks TYTILIDIE, that´s great!! i´ll make another donation to the myclone donation to make up for that.

but here is my new problem:
thanks for the hint, george! now i need a new valve too, cause i ground that already like the instructions on syty.huryde say.

i fabed up a washer like the one i lost, so i can move the truck around till i get the new washer, and imediatly noticed a chattering sound coming from the t.converter every few seconds when in drive and the truck standing still.(nothing in park).
could the wrongly modified valve be the reason for that? or maybe the ghetto-washer?
please help me out, i´m realy lost when it comes to automatic transmissions.

so now i´m in the market for:
1 tcc valve
1 lockup solenoid
or if i win the lottery: a 4l80e conversion

do you stock that stuff george? can you send me an offer incl. shiping if i pm you my adress?
thanks a lot guys!!

Re: lost trany part, need input

little question: I got an 200r4 out of a 83 cady coupe deville (lowrider project). I droped the oilpan and the lockup solenoid and found the exact same valve lineup (clip, washer and valve) as in the 700r4. are the parts interchangeble? i noticed the tcc solenoid is different but the valve looks the same.

I have the valve too. Only problem is, its ground down as well but did come off of a running truck. I dont know what gringing that valve is supposed to di but if you want it its yours too. Just let me knwo before 3PM today for when I ship it out. I would say the fabbed washer is causing your problem but could be wrong, what did you fab it out of?

Re: lost trany part, need input

thanks TYTILIDIE, i really appreciate your help!!
here is a pic of the valveassembly i pulled out of the 200r4 today:
http://www.syty.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=742&stc=1

it looks exactly the same. i´ll remove the ground one of the 700 this evening to compare them side by side. i think i will only need the washer, since yours is ground too., but thanks for the offer.

edit: i made the washer out of high grade steel on a lathe.the outer diameter is accurate, but i don´t know how accurate i got the offset hole.

Re: lost trany part, need input

seems like things are getting worse:
I put in the valve and washer of the 200r4 after i confirmed they are the same as the 700´s.
now i have severe tc chatter as soon as the engine is running. i have the bad felling that i managed to kill my torqueconverter. the truck moves but the sound of the tc is scaring. is there a way to tell for sure if it´s time to invest in a new tc (i got a rpm 2800stall converter about 400 miles old :-((((( )

edit: how to tell the difference betweenn rodknock and tc chatter? i hope my brandnew vortecengine hasn´t developed an issue. when slowly driving the truck there is no sound, but as soon as i come to a stop it starts knocking and chattering, idle all over the place (i think it´s pulling timing cause it hears knock)

Re: lost trany part, need input

i don´t think it´s the engine. the chattering sound only comes below ~1000rpm, doesn´t matter if in park or drive. as soon as i´m reving above 1000rpm it´s gone.i put the truck on a lift and listened.it sounds like it´s coming from the tc.when driving it´s gone, only comes when coming to a stop.
i´m completly lost now

unbolt the converter from the eng and see if you still have the noise. that will tell you if it's eng or trans noise.

Re: lost trany part, need input

thanks guys!!

i just diconected the tc from the flexplate and noticed the flexplate is loose at the crankbolts.
i ve never been happier to find a loose part on my truck;-)
now to the task of removing, covering in red loctite and retorquing the crankbolts without removing the trany - i think it´s time for a new special-tool.

it's not that bad I've done it a few times. a special tool would be nice. just be really careful not to round off the heads on those flexplate bolts. it's easy to do even without the trans/conv in the way.
