My sy has 135xxx on it now and it still seems strong to me, but then again......there are no others around to compare it to.

Re: low milage vs. high milage

The last one I owned averaged out to 14 miles a year....my current Sy averages out to 187 miles a year but I have exceeded that average in the year I have owned it . I think I am up to about 200 miles so far. Really, I think a mileage comparison is relative to the owner. The buyer of my 231 mile Sy probably regards my 3,000 mile Sy as high mileage. You on the other hand probably regard my 3,000 mile Sy as outrageously low mileage.

My Sy has 127,000 miles, but looks better than trucks half it's age. I probably would have had many more miles if it wasn't for it being habitually out of commission as a result of my now retired POS 700R4.

Re: low milage vs. high milage

I'd personally say for SyTy's that - at this time - under 50k is low, 50-100k is average, above 100k is high. If you're looking for a "low mileage vehicle" from 91-93, then yes, 100k is probably on the lower end. However, when you take into consideration the average mileage of SyTy's, the 50k/100k holds pretty true to divide the population into thirds.

As mentioned elsewhere, mileage is only a number. I've seen trucks with under 1k miles that looked pretty rough, and conversely Bob Galla's Ty has ~100k on it (all original paint except cowl hood) and was just in GMHTP and wins awards everywhere it goes. Ownership can "add or subtract mileage" if you will.

Just my :2cents:
