Id like to lower the rear of my truck and heard it effects the look as the wheel goes foward but also heard they make and lowering kit that dont let that happen? I found all this threw the search but didnt find info on who sells the lowering kit that keeps the wheels centered, anybody have a link?

Also whats the best shocks for the buck, front and rear, for a budget typhoon? Im not sure if ill lower the rear, depends on cost as I may end up selling this typhoon to help fund my twin turbo camaro project...

Thanks for the help..

JTR (Jags That Run) make the axle set-back plates: http://www.jagsthatrun.com/Pages/Parts_S10-301.html. They only lower the truck 3/8", so use them with whatever height lowering blocks you want to achieve the desired drop.

As for shocks I would go with Bilstein. RPM sells them and is a vendor here. They are not the absolute cheapest aftermarket shock, but the consensus is that they are the best for factory style suspension:

I agree about the ty not being around much, every person that sees the truck says 'wow its been a long time since ive seen one of these" So last night me and the wife talked about it and even tho I currently have 6 vehicles, not including the 26 foot boat and enclosed trailer all in my yard and garage in a deed restricted area,Ive decided im going to keep it..My boy is 11 and time flies fast so this will be his truck..

I bet that you found the threads about the lowering blocks that Bob Romano used to make. I see that he hasn't logged on here in over a year. Dunno if you can still get them from him or not...

Re: Lowering my rear and shock questions

I just bought a pair of these from Summit to lower the rear of my Sy by 1 1/2". I wanted the fore/aft adjustability, so that I could make sure the rear axle is perfectly aligned when I have the 4-wheel alignment done this Spring.

Here's the link.... http://store.summitracing.com/partd...&part=AFC-20270&N=700+400567+115&autoview=sku

Here's a pic.....

Could you put another block on it to get more than the 1.5"?

It said for the rear right tyre but is that a typo - they look universal....

Nice find...

Ya I got tons of info on the lowering kits from here, great info and links,I like the ones you can adjust from summit..

My boat is a family boat its a 06 26ft partybarge(pontoon),but we actually entered a redfish tournament with it(we were the only pontoon in the tournament) And we actually did really good as we caught our limit but got beat at the weigh in slightly..

Im not sure about adresses, cant you mapquest them to see if they are ligit?Google earth works too..

Re: Lowering my rear and shock questions

I made my own plate beavis has a set I made for him perhaps he will post a pic because I cant , anyways i driller a .500 hole in a piece of 3x7 1/5 inch thick flat stock then a tapped 3/8 hole 1/5 inch back lowers the rear another 1/2 inch and centers the wheel perfect this is on a ty with bell techs

Well today I got these lowering blocks in along with some 1 inch blocks and put them both in and it sits perfect, the only issue was the bracket on top of the rear end for the air shocks(i guess) was hitting, but all is good and ill post pics tommoro...

I lowered the front and the rear and had the front windows tinted and got it aligned today..Those adjuster things worked perfect I actually need to back them back to the front now...

Thanks for all the info..

Re: Lowering my rear and shock questions

Well my $2,000 truck has now turned into a $4,000 truck with all the additions ive done...Ive replaced everything on this truck to do with a tune up,and more..But its running perfect now and everything is new minus the original shinny paint and interior....Here is the pics of the truck lowered with the 2 1/2 drop in the rear, adjusted the front low, added bilstien shocks all the way around and had it aligned and windows tinted...Its come along ways since day one..

Re: Lowering my rear and shock questions

Well im taking out 1 inch on the stance,I think its a bit too low in the rear and its not good on Floridas crappy roads...So anyone wanting them for there ride and is going to the Miami meet can have them, all you will need is the U-Bolts..they are the alluminum 1 inch blocks...

I'd forgotten about this thread
That's great that you used those blocks from Summit. I haven't gotten mine in yet, but hope to get back to the Sy after I get this darn house remodel mostly done. It looks great with the 2" drop, but I can see where the ride could get choppy on the rougher roads.
Looks great

Re: Lowering my rear and shock questions

This sounds like what i am looking for. What did you guys use to clamp it together since the adjustable blocks dont come with u-bolts? I called summit and they dont sell them alone. I also want to add a 1.5" block for a total of 3". Is it safe to stack the blocks like that?

Re: Lowering my rear and shock questions

Guys,

does this look correct? My gut tells me that it was too easy and I need to put both the factory wedge AND the 2 degree wedge on the top of the pile which means getting some clamps for the springs.

Thanks,

Re: Lowering my rear and shock questions

So I need to remove the stock wedge and replace it with the 2 degree wedge then? That makes more sense.

I haven't bolted it in or anything - just wanted someone with more knowledge than me to cast an eye over it.

Thanks Dave (again! :D)
