Sounds to me like you need to sell the plasma cutter, you obviously don't know how to use it anyways. Take that money and refund people.
If that isn't enough, you have an extra kidney.
People don't mind paying $$ to get something they are promised and understand you must make money. You know yourself you did this community wrong here, if your so smart figure out how to fix it. Shipping what you did isn't that solution you need to come up with.

HotRod, unless your definition of a 'break' is a vise and a hammer, get real! These weren't bent on a break.
This is one of my favorites.... " i have all the brackets cut out, and just need to clean up the edges". HOLY CRAP... what would they have looked like if you didn't 'clean up' the edges??!!
And what about this gem..... "I recently was able to buy a plasma cutter, which has made cutting out the brackets much easier, and has made for a nicer looking bracket in the end." HotRod, do you mean these look better than the first ones you attempted to make??
You've got to learn that there are consequences for your actions. Bottom line is that you habitually lied, strung people out for over a year, took the money and spent it on things that made YOU happy, not the people you committed yourself to, and now you're trying to turn the whole thing around on them and make them feel guilty for being upset and venting their frustrations.
I don't even allow crap pieces like your brackets in my garage... things like that go straight to the garbage. Yes, the cables look nice but that doesn't make up for anything.
I can't speak for the guys who bought into this GP, HotRod, but here's my suggestion... sell your friggin' plasma cutter (you don't know how to use it anyway) - or better yet borrow the money from your wife - it would take you another year to sell the cutter . Use the proceeds to purchase brackets from Renz, and send them out priority mail to everyone who bought into this mess. Then, take any remaining money from the sale of the cutter, and donate it to the MYCLONE fund.
You put all of these guys through a bunch of crap, on something that was supposed to be fun, and of a benefit..... it's time for you to give back, or never show your face again to this group..... my :2cents:

I'd imagine that this is it. You guys will get the hacked brackets that have bent holes that don't line up and the cables won't fit in with missing slots to prevent rotation. Keep the cables and go to Renz to get brackets that will line up and take it as a learning experience never to deal with this guy again. My two cents is bannage. Again, I've done GP's, been exposed to the stress but never have I screwed anyone. This is a plain screw job. He wasn't capable to deliver what he promised and has repeatedly jumped at offers of more money for his "products" until admins step in and stop those from inquireing. I hope the cables are correct. If you guys go to Renz and the cables aren't right, don't blame Renz. Please someone check the cables and make sure they are right before using them. ok...here is what's currently possibly going to happen. HRV6 pm'd me wanting to buy my brackets for everyone involved in the group buy. Here are PMs from him to me:
I replied to these 2 w/ an offer to make the brackets, mild steel and powdercoated, basically at cost...to try to help out the syty people, not him. I would directly ship brackets to the customers, not to him. I offered to undercut him on what the cables are worth.
so i reevaluated my offer to him...and sent him this:

well this just pissed me off considering what i'm attempting to do to help him out, and not LOSE money myself. so i replied with this but am yet to receive a response. He's offering me $22 per bracket set. Now remember these will be waterjetted, brake bent, powdercoated, and shipped. There is NO WAY i can make them and ship them for that price, especially given such a low quantity. So yes, i'm pissed off.
So there you have it. Even at this price i'm doing them for the ultra low $25/set SHIPPED. Yet he's complaining. So don't think i'm making any money off this. Any kit i make after the group buy fixing....will cost more than $25, but at the same time i won't be gouging the price to make up for any lost $ in this deal.
And please so everyone knows....i'm not doing this to help HRV6 in any way shape or form....i'm simply trying to get the people who got screwed a decent bracket.

You shouldn't have cut him a break in the brackets and just charged him your normal 'profit', then buy cables from him at his cost.
This GP was quite a large profit margin for him, besides the massive amount of time he spent on butchering the brackets.($70 material for $200) It appears as though was over his head in having the brackets made.

Mike, before you make anything, make sure you have cash funds in your hands. HR, he's helping you out. Give him what he needs to fix YOUR crap and move on. If you have to use a CC use a CC, if you need a loan, go to the bank and get one. With these kinds of figures, you obviously used the money from the GP to buy the plasma cutter thinking you'd buy a cutter with the money you'd make and then make the brackets. $1500 for a base unit that can cut 3/8" thick steel pretty much sums it up. Unfortunately, you never did what you were supposed to do. Mike didn't HAVE to do dick. And before you say this is none of my business, you screwed several of MY friends on this deal and have done significant damage to the "trust" factor of dealing with online venders. So YES, it is MY business.

Update: HRV6 has accepted the deal, so as soon as he sends me the leftover brake cables and $ for everyone's brackets...and then everyone's names and addresses....i'll make and ship out the brackets.
I'll confirm in this thread w/ everyone that is listed...there are 14 people total.
Once that is all done, i'll offer 7 more kits for sale immediately, using the leftover cables i'm buying from HRV6.
After THAT....i'll offer them for sale if people need them...and i'll hit up s-series forums or wherever else the HRV6 brackets were sold and offer them brackets also. So if any s-series people are following this thread, give me some time and i'll be over to your neck of the woods soon hopefully.

well i read renz's first post this morning and knew he made it public, i wasnt trying to hide anything, just wanting to work out the details behind the scenes. I sold 13 complete kits and 1 set of brackets only, so the 14 sets of brackets will give everybody a good set of brackets and there is nothing wrong with the cables or hardware i provided. I will ship out the 5 kits i have here that will be cables and hardware only, and then renz will ship the brackets to the right people.
Then hopefully we can all move on with our lives, and if i get banned then so be it, i hope that i dont but ill leave that up to the mods and admins to decide.

I have been reading this for the last few days. Can't believe that no one ever knocked on his door or paid him a visit of any type. Not that SYTYers are that type of person.
Did anyone ever call the other phone number that was assumed to be his dad. Not wanting to stir up the muddy water here, it is just hard for me to fathom that this has gone on for so long.
I am glad to see that Renz may have it all worked out. HR should be eternally gratefull that someone has stepped in and saved his butt. Renz may be doing it for all the SYTYers here but his efforts really take the pressure off HR. Can't imagine that HR would not come thru on this deal and suffer even longer that he already has.
