FYI - the cladding hangs a 1/4 below the frame.

ps - mine is at 2.75 air out and 5.25 ride height. I should have made it 6"

Yea, I may end up having to raise it up abit, but that's why I got QA1 adjustable coils all the way around so I can play with ride hieght if I need to.

Not aton to update...but here's a few things..

Got the sway bar installed with the new polyurethane bushings and hardware.
My new polyurethane body bushings arrived last week as well.
Front brakes are painted and installed and stainless steel lines are on up front.

The truck is going to the exhaust shop on wednesday to get the exhaust fabbed on it. So the cab will be back on the truck within the next 1-2 weeks.

Well, I took some pictures of the new exhaust today. It looks pretty good. Only thing I'm thinkin that we are going to do is get the driveshaft put in so we know where that is going then put an H-pipe in it.

It should hang down just about where the rear bumper is....we may shorten the exhaust in the rear because I don't really want the pipes hanging down under the bumper.

Good news is the cab will be going back on next weekend.

Bad news is my rear brake calipers are ****ed up so now I gotta send those back and get new ones..

Instead of the H-pipe, you should go for the X-pipe as it has proven to give more power and torque over the entire rpm range. BTW it looks really good. Are you going black on black again?

Did your wheels arrive yet?

Nope, should be acouple more weeks before they arrive.

Yea...it woulda been nice to have mandrel bent pipes....but I'm kinda running low on money and I still have body work/paint to pay for. I got them done through a guy my dad knows for a damn good deal. Plus they are 3 inch dual pipes, I really don't think it is gonna limit me on power just because they aren't mandrel bent. But since they were'nt mandrel bent, we tried to have the least amount of bends possible which worked out pretty well. The majority of the piping is just straight with no bends.

Personally I'd go with some electric cutout's right off the headers, would sound just wicked with the LS1. It's comin along really well though, can't wait till she's on the road again. You can have a crack at the Vette if you want (I should be cammed by then).

Yea...I have thought about cut-outs but I think the dual exhaust should provide plenty of flow for whatever power adder I use. I'm also hoping it will be loud enough with those smaller mufflers on it. With the older larger mufflers it sounded awesome accelerating and at WOT, but at idle and just cruising along you couldnt even hear it.

I know it helped with the whole "sleeper" thing, but lets face it, at this point I've kinda thrown away the whole "sleeper" look.

Would be cool to have a race between my truck and your vette. What are the specs on the cam you're getting?

Haven't speced one out yet, I know I'm gonna go with a custom grind though. Won't be going to big since this is my DD.

Yea, I'd like to do an X, I'm still undecided on which one I'm going to use. I just know by looking at it that an H would be alot easier to do and clear the drive shaft. Not sure yet we'll see.

As for paint, it's just gonna be black and I do plan on putting "Sonoma GT" back on the doors and tailgate although I've been tossing around the idea of just having them painted on. I also thought it might be cool to get "346 C.I." painted on the side of the cowl on the hood but since it isn't a typical 350ci I think alot of people will be confused by it..dunno

Re: LS1-Sonoma GT build (updated with pics)

Well, been awhile since I did an update so here goes..

I still haven't gotten my new wheels yet do to some miscommunications between the salesman and I. But hopefully it is all straightened out and they will arrive within the next year or so...

I finally found someone to do body work which should be starting not this weekend but the following weekend. I've also been gathering up body parts...got a new passenger fender since my other one was rusty. Ordered some new cladding to replace my cracked front pieces...

I actually wanted to get some input on a grill for this truck as I cannot make up my mind...

Stock Grill:

Grill I'm thinking about getting:

Now obviously it won't be chromed like that, I will have it painted black. Just focus on the billet insert vs. the stock grill.

I'm kinda leaning towards the billet grill at this point but I'm unsure.

Input is appreciated

Thanks,

Found a pretty damn good deal on this site. Best I've seen yet...Comes with the insert installed into the plastic and everything..only problem is it comes chrome...nothing alittle paint won't take care of though.

http://www.fbirides.com/product.asp?idno=259637

EDIT nvm..it appears that that insert doesn't come installed. Let me see if I can find the one I was looking at where it came already installed. I believe it was for around 100 bucks. I know of another place where u can get the insert already installed in the plastic shell but they want 350 bucks...lol I think their head hurts personally.
