Have you look at the new 12 bolts rear ends by Moser. Check out these tires if you want to look for other types.

Yea I was originally thinking of going with a GM 12-bolt but my dad's buddy has all kinds of hook-ups on 9 inch fords so I'll be getting a narrowed housing with disc brakes and hes gonna get me all the internals for pretty cheap.

I actually have looked at those tires before. I'm still considering 18X15 wheels just because of how insane a 15 inch wide 18 inch diameter rim would look on the back of my truck. Only thing is how much un-needed wieght that adds. I'm pretty sure im just gonna go with a 12 inch wide rim...but we'll see...may change my mind.


As for the pavillions....I think we need to have another meet thing like we did awhile back.. We got like 7 trucks out there i think..I actually don't go to the pavillions all that often because I've been working double shifts the last while on saturdays. But I have saturday night off today and next weekend so I may go next weekend if my truck is done.

We started the truck up today and drove it around(with open headers :headbange )
Boy does it go....sounds damn good to boot.

It was actually funny because it has been sitting for quite awhile so all the injectors were plugges but one. So we go to start it and hear 1 cylinder .... :rotf: After knocking on injectors we had 7 cylinders goin and the last injector was just too plugged up. So we stole and injector from my dad's LT1 and it ran perfect. First test drive we took...the truck wouldn't shift out of first and the speedometer wasn't working. So we swapped the green and purple wires that go to the DRAC module under the dash and now it shifts nice and firm and the speedo works.

Only bad thing is the alternator isn't charging so I'm taking that over to a place tomorrow to try and get it fixed.

I've had good luck with NASA Automotive Electrical on 43rd and Glendale. I had them build me up a 180 amp Alt for my S10 when my old system killed the last Alt, they did great work and had it done in a timly manner for not much cashola.

Hmm...Yea I was actually planning on taking mine to this place called "Genco". I guess my dad used em years ago to rebuild an alternator and they did good work...so assuming they still rebuild them then I'll use em. Otherwise I may try NASA.

i paid 200 bucks to get my alt rebuilt and heat coated, Not sure what coat they used but i get and had a constant 14 amp reading while using a 85+ amp pull system.

Yea I'm about to take it over to the place right now...I'm hoping it will be under 140 bucks..because thats what a newly refurbished one costs. Well see how it goes..

I can't remember who, But someone is making a center section that a bolt-in for the 9" Ford R/R that uses all 12 bolt Chevy gears part so you can have the best of both rearends. It may be call the Mark Williams center section that allows the use of Chevy 12 bolt gears in the Ford housing.

Also i have a really nice set of Axle for a 9" if you need them. Guess what they are the exact length you will need.

Oh cool! I'll keep that in mind. It is gonna be a few months before I start rounding up rear suspension/differential parts. When I do I'll email you Marty.

Well, it is getting close to time to start up the project again and I've just decided to use this thread for anything I end up doing to the truck. I've begun gathering parts for the rear end swap comming up here soon.

This will contain:
-S&W rear frame clip and 4-link suspension or ladder bar..undecided
-narrowed 9 inch rear with Posi and 3.89 gears
-rear disc brakes
-CCW SP500 wheels/335 wide drag radials on the rear.

So far I've got the gears and the Posi. On top of that I'm about to order the rear frame clip someday. I will be ordering the rear housing and disc brakes this week sometime from currie and the wheels within the next couple weeks I'm hoping. We shall see, I may end up just ordering the rear wheels/tires for now to keep the cost down on the build this summer.

Good Luck on the rear frame and suspension. We're getting ready to send the GT to the shop to have our SW rear frame welded in and 4-link setup. I'm taking pictures right now, and once I get them uploaded I'll start my own project thread. :tup:



Or.... we could just put our trucks together and have a complete one.... ^.^

looking good man! the only thign thats bad about the SW kits, is they some times sit Like a 4x4 and you have to either make a new shock mount bracket, or weld a piece on and drill some holes.

Here are a few pics of mine not a Sy or a GT but kind of get the idea, ladder bars, 9", the back half is a comp engineering, sit's pretty low already has a 33" tire in the back. Hope this gives you some ideas.

My GT looks so tame compared to all these builds :lol: ... oh well, it'll still be a fun truck to drive now that it breathes freely and I've got 5 gears to mix

And Nats, once again, falls during my summer assignment :rant: ... I'm going to try and get mine done to represent at Jimmy's BBQ this year :tup:

Thanks guys. I'm hoping to get this project started sometime in May but until then I'll be updating it with parts I get.

As for the rear sitting too high...I really don't think it will be an issue because the lower mounting bracket is supposed to provide 7 inches of ride hieght adjustability. I suppose if I had to though, I could always put the QA1 coil overs on the rear since I plan to put em on the front anyways.

Madekatsu: Since you already have this frame package....(dunno if you have the 4-link or the ladder bars??) does it look like to you that there will be enough ride height adjustability to get what would be equivalent to about a 5 inch drop on the rear??

Go Ladder bar - not enough hieght adjustment on the 4-Link and you won't be happy with the 4-link on the street.

I my self do not like 4-links on the street. Its just the move WAY to much on the street and a ladder bar car is a so much better if you want to hit a small road course your truck will stay flat as a board aroubnd the corners with ladder bars compared to a 4-link.
