Re: LS1 TT typhoon build(updated pics)

From what I can gather, he's trying to do his own thing. His shop does LS1 conversions all the time..... There will be a learning curve. Heaven forbid he's listen to a bunch of syty amateurs :rotf: Kinda like the other guy with "baddest 4l60e on the planet". After some time with syty's he'll learn.

for the record,it not that "i dont believe what everyone else here says" its more along the line that i do like to do things my own way as stated by george.and what might be intolerable for some may not be for me.
as far as the frame clearencing goes, there really was no other way for me to low mount an a/c compressor that i have seen or could come up with on my own,yes i could have mounted it high like everyone else but when the hood is up i want people to notice the fab work and th eturbos not the a/c compressor, very minimal amount was tken out of the frame and th epieces were kept if i ever want to put them back in no-one would even notice

Hey man it's a sweet build IMO,and you can do whatever you want to with it,but I also think that you should talk to some of the guys here that have years of experience making these trucks go fast.

Or not.

thanks,i do read alot on this board, and take all the info to develope and educated idea of the direction i want to go,but when push comes to shove there are certain things that reguardless of how many people say good or bad things about i will most likly try out for myself, such as the front locker,if i dont like it ill take it out, really not that big a deal:roll:and as far as all the other info offered this is th eonly thing,so far, that i have not listened to

,thanks, that was pretty much my goal, only to do modifications to the truck that could be easily reversed, that would be why im not doing any core support modification to run a production ls style intake manifold, funny i dont see any one bashing on the guys that have done that:rant:

i will definatly keep updating the tread, and those who dont like what i have done dont have to read it

btw,i was considering having the a/c brakets duplicated if those are the parts you where inquiring about, also the turbo headers would appear to be easily duplicated on a jig set up ,i was test fitting some tubes on friday and i believe it is very do-able if anyone would be interested after the final product is shown here, lmk

I'm pretty sure a front locker is a BAD idea, and that a H3 oil pan would have fit with no mods.
:dunno:

i had the truck pan lay-ing around so i decided just to use that, really didnt take too long to do 20 min's on the bridge port and another 30 welding it,plus i am going to drop the front section of it down in front of the diff for added oil capacity, then connect the 2 sumps with a -12 an line, similar to a fox body mustang pan.my current pan hold 6 quarts not including the filter,so after this mod it will hold almost 8 quarts total

I don't think anyone is bashing you. You do LSX style swaps all the time. Your used to having to redo everything cut frames, etc. What we were trying to point out is that others have already done them in the syty, so they are here as reference for you. Please use them. They'll make it easier. PM them, no one has to know your talking to them. The posilock has been been installed and removed from almost every truck that really gets used at the track. Issue was front lift. You get any tire lift on the front and you will go sideways with the locker. The stock open front diff won't jerk you like that. Just make sure you get your suspension dialed in so you hook but don't lift.

they will be run down through the inner fender and over the frame rail right at the base of the firewall.i already had the tire and wheels im running (08 Z06 19")on it and there is plenty of clearence for the pipes there

this is what i am wondering about. with the a/c canister thing there is there going to be room? if you cut the inner fender is there going to be enough room for your 19"s to turn at full bump.

yes,as stated i have already test it them and there is slightly over 4" of room at full lock,i will be running 3" dp's so i will have more then enough room, the inner fender will not be completely cut out,i plan on using a tight radius 90 dgree bend right of the housing and only putting a 3.5 - 4" round hole for the dp to travel through, everything else will remain the same oncluding the a/c canister that will be re-located by a couple inches.there was alot of planning and measuring before i began construction t make sure i had a game plan and everything would still fit and have clearance

I noticed you have your engine in the sme locaion as mine. and you had to notch your a/c box,so did I, but evil's syclone swap, looks like the a/c box is untouched, is there more room in the syclone?

i took a flap wheel to my head and valve cover. took out about 3/8". My head is now about 1/8" away from the box. I did make my own mounts though and there solid mounts.

thanks for the info on the dp. what size primary are you running? collector size? just interested. last question, where is the a/c compressor going?
