MAF vs MAP

Quickstop [UK]

Combating adversyty.
Has anyone thought about replacing the MAP sensor and running a MAF sensor?

As I understand it, MAP only detects pressure, so if you have a high temp intake charge then you can have a lot of pressure but very little mass of air.

In theory I would expect a MAF to remove this issue - this pressure difference is more interesting than the temp of the charge as it relates to the fuel that can burn and a rich/lean condition more accurately.

Am I barking up the wrong tree?

Re: MAF vs MAP

why replace a map with maf.....everybody who has maf whants to swap to map.

maf only measure the airflow and not the real manifold presure.
map is more acurate and on a syty its the most reliable part..

Re: MAF vs MAP

GM MAF equipped vehicles also have a MAP sensor.

The MAF helps closed loop operation a bit. They can also compensate for small engine mods that increase airflow. You would have to have an ECM that could use the MAF input.

Speed density systems like ours work very well. In fact, GM has used speed density systems until recently where it seems now everything is mass air equipped.
