Just a quick question gang,
Are the sy/ty manifolds notorious for rusting out or is the cast iron thick enough to withstand years of heat, and weather .How about the crossover? Can a set that has over 100,000 miles on it be cleaned up and cated with anything to last longer?
thanks,
jim

Re: manifolds

I've never heard of a set rusting out.. And yes they can be cleaned up and coated..

Re: manifolds

You can port the inside of them and sand blast the outside.... then go get a can of Weld Through Primer from your Napa or welding store. It withstands more heat than the engine can dish out and has Zink in it that won't allow it to rust. Had it on my Nissan daily driver for the last 2yrs and looks like the day I sprayed it on there... (it's a turbo Nissan Maxima) ;)

I can take a picture of the manifolds all ported and painted if you e-mail me...

Hope that helps,
Scott~

Re: manifolds

That is the most idiotic thing I have ever seen! I can't believe someone would do that!

I'm sad that they did that to a Maxima... the good news is it will have a short life with a automatic transmission.... They can't last long with a stock motor!!!

Thanks for the laugh!
Scott~
