Hey guys I went to replace my map sensor tonight and the one I bought from Autozone didn't match up with the slots on the plug, has anyone else had this problem? 92 Ty#48
All the Autozone parts that I have ever bought have been the wrong ones. I think some of the parts in their computers are wrong. I get the original part number and have them cross reference it. HTH
Another reason why I like my ACDelco parts place. Get the part number off of Jas's site and either have Dal send it to you or get one from an ACDelco dealer.
I had the exact same problem at Advanced Auto parts. I went to buy a 3 bar map sensor for an 89 TA to go with my Ultimate and they sold me a barometric sensor. Go with AC DELCO.
Thanks everyone, I went to the GM dealer today and bought 1($73!) it fit perfectly. Sadly, it didn't cure the problem. I just bought the truck 1 month ago and did all the basic stuff you list to do. It won't pass emmissions and anything past half throttle makes it buck and spit. So far I have replaced the O2 sensor, charge air sensor, all vacuum lines fuel pressure regulator and now map sensor. I would love to know how this thing really runs, any help is app. BTW, has anyone raced a WRX yet? A friend has one but I want the ty to run right before we go. Thanks
Do you have the stock chip or is it a 3-Bar chip like the Ultimate? If you have the stock chip then you will not be able to use the 3-Bar MAP sensor or the truck will run very poorly. The stock chip requires the stock 2-Bar MAP sensor.
The WRX is quick but I think any good running stock SyTy should be able to deal out an ass-whooping.
Give us a list of modifications, fuel pressure adjustment if applicable, what parts you used during the last tune up and any other changes that you think could help us pin down your Ty's probs.
All stock except Walker muffler, I'm not sure what chip is it. I'll find out tonight and I'm also going to check timing one more time to make sure it's not knocking. If anyone has a datamaster and cable for sale I'd be interested. Don't need the laptop.
Did you buy a 3 bar MAP or not? You said you changed the fuel pressure regulator. With what? I am serious about you *listing* what parts you used during what you describe as "the basic stuff you list to do". It is going to take some description from you in order for us to get a sense of what is on your truck. Describe what you got goin on, or help will be difficult to come by.
