Is there any interest in some kind of award for the forum member that has contributed the most? An award based either through their efforts to develop something new and a tech write up or their useful help on the forum?

I was just thinking about it seeing as there have been a few observations about membership etc. Would an award even make a difference? Do other forums have anything like that?

It may not even be practical but I was curious if anyone has thought about it? I know we give awards at Nats but an annual small recognition of someone's input I thought would be a nice touch.

I'm just "spitballing"...

:)

I vote Tom @ Sportmachines , for his dedications to developing products to keep these trucks on the road !

Re: Member of the Year

This isn't an Admin Approved idea BTW, just me as a member.

I guess my reservation about having vendors win is that they are in it with much more resources so the average Joe who hasn't got a workshop or isn't able to fabricate stuff may not have a chance. Perhaps a vendor category and a private member category. With the vendor category though, you'd risk offending other vendors who may decide to scale back their efforts. I suppose I feel that a thriving business is reward enough and that this would be aimed at individual members, not a professional outfit.

Would be a nice surprise getting recognition for being supportive of the group.
It might make it a bit of a competition to be helpful.... or really bring out the obnoxious responses from the 'IDGAF' croud. :2cents:

Re: Member of the Year

Where I (used to) work it's the other way around. The (usually a driver) who makes the most embarrassing screw-up gets the award. First winner was one of the owners which started the whole thing. Yes I got one along the way. Then one year they had to add a shop/yard category. The guy that does all the welding cutting you-name-it accidentally (obviously) cut the fork of one the big lifts clean off.

Not going to be able to find an individual that has contributed more technical information than DaveP. IMO, just send the award now.
