Howdy,

The next Mid-Atlantic SyTy Gathering has been set for Sunday, 17 October, 2004. It will be held at Fort Smallwood Park, MD. It'll start about lunchtime (approx 11-1130) and go until about 4pm. It'll be rain-or-shine, unless we get hit with another hurricane. :) It's family-friendly, so feel free to bring the spouse and kids.

It's an informal gathering, so no RSVP needed, just show up, hang out and talk about SyTys. Bob Galla will be bringing burgers and hot dogs, so you can either contribute to Bob or bring a desert or snack.

We usually have between 15 and 20 trucks show up, so it should be a good time.

Directions from North:

I-95 South

Exit 62 (on Left), Harbor Tunnel Thwy / I-895 S toward Annapolis/Bay Bridge

Exit 6, I-895 Spur S, toward I-97 S/Annapolis/Bay Bridge

Right onto MD-2 S/Governor Ritchie Hwy

Left onto E Furnace Branch Rd/MD-270 E

Merge onto Arundel Expy/MD-10 S

MD-100 E toward Gibson Island

Left onto Magothy Bridge Rd/MD-607 N

Right onto Fort Smallwood Rd/MD-173

Once you get in the park, follow the road around about a mile (you'll go about 3/4 of the way around the loop), 'til you see the large covered picnic stand (and hopefully, other SyTys).

I e-mailed Bill to take a look at the directions to make sure MapQuest wasnt making anyone drive through a ghetto. He said they were fine, but if anyone wants to avoid MD-2 and the Arundel Expy, that you could stay on I-97S and take that to MD-100 E. It keep you farther west and you stay on MD-100 longer, but its all highway.

I will most likely follow the original directions, but the option is there for anyone else.

Anyone else from the forum planning on attending this meet?

well, the meet starts around 11-11:30.

CrapQuest says it will take me 3 hours, 48 minutes, however it also has me going out via the AC Expressway, which is retarded.

I will most likely take Rt 72 - Rt 70 - I-295 - Del Mem Bridge

I avoid the NJ Turnpike at all costs when I travel :D

CrapQuest also says its 2 hours, 16 minutes from Marlton, NJ to Ft Smallwood, MD, and even though it says it takes 1 hour, 43 minutes for me to get to Marlton from my house  I can do it in 45-50 mins.....sooooooooooooo, Im guessing the whole trip will be about 3 hours for me, meaning I should leave around 8:00am, so Ill probably be in the Del Mem Bridge area probably a around 9:15am if all goes well.

can i bring the supra????

You can bring whatever you want - but if you have a SyTy we'd obviously hope to see it. (And I won't stop folks from razzing you for bringing a non-SyTy.)

I'll be there with Dad's Ty, as financial constrictions continue to keep me SyTy-free. Started a new job this week, so hopefully it won't be long till I'm back with force.

The park itself is pretty easy to find, as Ft Smallwood Rd goes into the park. If you get lost once you get off MD-100, give me a call and if I can't help, Bob should be able to. My cell is 610.223.7445. Those directions look pretty decent Morgan. I uploaded a local map below, please print and take with. (The park is circled.) If memroy serves, THERE IS A MANDATORY DONATION AT THE GATE - like $5 or so.

If it's nice out as expected, expect to see Denny Raab's 10-sec Sy. (I'm hoping to see his buddy Jeff's 8-sec GN as well, but heard that's a long shot.) Bob will be there with his low-11's Ty regardless. Some other sweet rides should be there as well. Bob told me yesterday that he's talked to around 15 guys who all expected to make it. The park closes at dusk, and they usually throw us out shortly thereafter.

It'll probably be the last nice Sunday of the year, so I don't want to hear excuses. (I'm 2+ hours away and driving someone else's Ty to make it...) Bring your cameras, we usually park along the bay - pretty view.

Hope to see you guys there - should be a blast!

Had a great time there today. It was nice meeting Danny, Bob, Aaron and everyone else. I'm pretty much sold on the typhoon. I just need to find one that isn't ragged. Thanks!!! I'll try to post some pics later :)
