mightymouse catch can install

Alright guys I picked up a prototype catch can from Dave. It is one of his boosted cans with a single in single out. I am just making sure I install this correctly, Dave hasnt been under a hood of a ty in sometime and just wanna make sure my idea on how to install is correct.

I would like to install catch can on passenger side between valve cover and tb. Then keep driver side hose going to intake before turbo to supply fresh air. My question is can I get rid of pcv's? Since the can is sealed til it gets into boost the vents the pressure would the pcvs not be needed?
Thanks for any help

Dave is still kicking? I have his old Ty. I am installing a new turbo on it now. It is a Bulleseye power 62mm. Should be making some decent power soon!!! Good luck. Sorry I am not too much help with the can.

Yes, you can remove the PCV's however are you getting blowby? If not, then there really isn't a need for a catch can. I learned this the hard way on my 2jz swapped GS300 when I installed one and the only thing it did was created an oil/fuel vapor odor that got sucked into the car since the filter for the can was directly in front of my ventilation system air input.

I would think that you would want the catch can attached to the turbo intake side. The throttle body side is going to be under pressure under boost if you remove the pcv valve. I don't think you want to pressurize the engine crank case.

X2, putting a catch can as you described is going to do nothing to remove crankcase pressure/vapors. You need to use a vacuum source/ - pressure while under boost to draw out pressure/vapor. The driver side filter just acts as a breather to draw fresh clean air through the crankcase.

Re: mightymouse catch can install

I always run catch cans to keep oil out of intake never had an issue. Since this cans breather has a check valve, the vapors shouldnt be an issue. Jkanser sounds like you just had a breather and thats where your issue was.

I wasnt clear enough in first post but the breather itself has "checkvalve" to vent any positive pressure. So the crankcase wouldnt see it.

I should keep prolly valve in the driver side and keep that as my supply. I can keep 1 pcv in passenger side as added insurnace, connect can between that and t/b or intake. That should remove the oil before it gets back into intake and keep the system working properly.

Thanks guys
