MN/ND/SD SyTy/GN race gathering

Hellooooo everybody.

I'm trying to get a gang together for the Street Race Weekend at Interstate Dragways
(Sabin, MN) August 6,7. This is an open race weekend, more like a 2-day test-n-tune
than the regular points races.

http://www.interstatedragways.com/2005TintmastersStreetLegalThunderInfo.html

The heat will likely be a factor, not gonna lie. Keep watching the above web site for
schedule update and info... things have changed for these events in the past.

Track is really sticky... guys pulling 1.6x on drag radials with RWD cars. New Shower +
bathroom facilities are up and running as of last year.

Got a few GN guys rounded up, hope to get a few SyTys and ? up to battle the local street crowd. (Maybe the LIQRPIG?)

I'll load the BBQ grill in the pickup, so if you wanna bring beef or weenies, feel free.

Those looking for hotel accomodations can try the Courtyard Inn+Suites in Moorhead, MN.
It's within 3-4 miles of the track. There are many other hotel options within a 5 mile radius
of the track.

I've got tools/jacks/parts at the house if people are worried about breaking.

Pass the word to and Sy/Ty GN folks that you might know in the area. Or out of the area;
if someone feels like a drive.

As long as the LIQRPIG holds together, we'll race it. This weather has been horrible for tuning. We'll likely be there either way, though. Is Ralph gonna be ready for the showdown?:)

Did you shoot an e-mail to Mark Larson?

Didn't mail Larson or Garbage-Can-Boy. Feel free to shotgun the word to whomever you feel like telling. Does anybody know if we can do a posts search based on location? I'd like to PM any MN/ND folks that are around and might not be following this thread. I'll ping
Jeff M, too, maybe we can beat up a turbo GP as well.

I may try to spread the word on the T6P forum, as well.

We think the GN has a bad governor... if not, it sheared the band anchor pin.
Either is fairly quickly fixable... I've got another whole trans if I need one... it'll be ready.
Need to hook up the wide band again and dial the big MAF in a bit.

There's apparently another Blk/blk Ty in town... Paul referred him my way for a tuneup.
If he's interested, we'll see if we can get him out as well.

I meant "town" as in Fargo... but feel free to pass it along anyway.

You'll be fine... there are more than a few that run open turbo exhausts.
You're probably quiter than most of the fart can kids. As long as you have a tailpipe
out the back, you should be fine.

They just don't want open headers... the county has "noise rules" after certain hours.

For anybody who the listed rules might chase away- Don't worry about it. They have to
post 'em to cover the guys who take things too far, but from past experience they don't enforce it.
A couple things, though:

1) Make sure you have a good helmet. I will bring one as a loaner, but it's first come, first
served.

2) Pay attention to the rules about shirt sleeves and shoes and long pants. They'll boot
you for it.

3) They won't put up with pit road speeding/antics.

In general, as long as you're cool about things and avoid the street punk crap, they'll
leave you alone.

Crossposted to T6P... if anybody is on any of the other GN boards, spread the word around.
The hurricanes down south are stealing all the moisture, so it should hopefully be a dry weekend.

Hey Dig, are they strict at all with the helmet ratings? My helmet is DOT approved, but has no Snell or SFI rating.

LIQRPIG's finally getting an alignment, so that should shave a solid .05 off my 1/4 time. We haven't decided if we're trailering it or driving it yet. Sunni thinks it's a bit smelly and for some reason doesn't like Henry smelling like burnt oil and ethanol. It does put him to sleep more quickly, though.

Did you hear back from Jeff M.?

Haven't heard from Jeff. I'll see if I can dig up his phone # and bug him. A TGP would be
quite a curiosity at I-state.

Stop burning oil, and it won't smell bad. Throw a bottle of turbo tangerine in the tank and
burble it on up. Sunni can drive the Honda for a pit car... would probably be cheaper than
a pickup and a tow vehicle.

The boy had better get used to the smell of oil burning and alcohol... Jr dragsters don't run on Febreeze.

They won't bug you too bad on the helmet... they'll just tell you to bring a different one
next time. Worst case, you can use mine.

I'll make sure to bring the hoosiers/welds. They aren't doing any good sitting on the Sy.

Come on out... I'll have the wide band, but I suspect it'll be busy most of the time.
Need to build 3-4 more someday...

Burnin' oil and breakin' hearts is what the PIG's all about. Sunni's decided that towing the Ty would be best. We'll head up Friday morning and head home Sunday. Sunni has chosen the Country Inn and Suites as our place of rest. You better be ready to entertain iff'n it rains.

I wish we could insert a rimshot.wav after that line.

I might as well strap 'em on if I'm trailerin'. I'm trying to get some funds together for a external wastegate; so head on over to the parts for sale forum if you want to help me out. I'l save the -8s for you, though. :)

yep. its all ready to break.

With Larson there, broken parts are all but a certainty. :)

GN is ready to run again, put the stock GN valve body back in it, fixed the screwed up accumulators, and it shifts nicer than it ever has. TCC locks now too. Dang thing still won't hook-up, though.. 3-4 psi launch is instant tire smoke.

I'm still trying to spread the word all over the internet, so hopefully we'll get a good turnout.
