yep. its all ready to break.

Ha! I'll have a trailer there in case it does, although we'll have to have Larson tow the broken Ty back then...

With Larson there, broken parts are all but a certainty. :)

Cheap shot. But that is the real reason our Ty's getting trailered. :)

GN is ready to run again, put the stock GN valve body back in it, fixed the screwed up accumulators, and it shifts nicer than it ever has. TCC locks now too. Dang thing still won't hook-up, though.. 3-4 psi launch is instant tire smoke.

Ralph better be ready to bring it or the PIG's gonna walk all over him. Actually, the PIG may not have its crossover back before the 4th, so tuning time is going to be scarce. Solid boost control should do wonders for it, though.

I'm still trying to spread the word all over the internet, so hopefully we'll get a good turnout.

How many TySys have you gotten so far? Sunni booked us for friday and saturday night so if you're gonna be free friday night, we can start the party early. We'll bring the 3.2% alcoholic beverages :)

Shoot, that won't be until 4:30. I'll have a half dozen passes with the GN by that time.

I'll keep the grill on for ya...

Considering mine's in a bazillion pieces, I probably shouldn't talk either.
We'll definitely bring the Hoosiers for it, then you can throw a 15 psi launch at it.

It's all good. I might try to find a set of E/T streets for it... if I can leave with 8-10 psi,
it should run the hi-11s.

I take it you found an external WG?

Not sure if Paul and the other local guy are coming... we will see. Should be at least
4-5 of the SyTy, and maybe as many GNs/T-types.

Why mess with 3.2%, when you have 85% on board?

I won't be there until 1:30 ish on Saturday. If ya wanna come and get the WB Friday
night, you sure can... there's plenty of roads south of town where you can test.

Use the raw WB patch for this one... the NTK has a different curve than the DIY WB
or the other units. I really should create a patch for my own stuff. ;)

It's Sunni's birthday on August 9th so I figured what girl wouldn't want an external wastegate? I actually whined enough and she okayed the deal. The crossover's in Cali with Mike getting a minigate.

That's cool. I'd hate to be the only Ty there and have others judge all Typhoons based solely on mine...

It doesn't start until 2:00, correct? I'm guessing gates are opened before that?

I'll see how the Ty runs with the new wastegate and decide how much more tuning I need to do after that. How about I just drop it off at your place friday and pick it up saturday after you tune it into the 11s? :)

Racing doesn't start until 2, but hopefully they'lll start teching around 1. I'm just planning on camping at the race track if anyone wants to join me. From what i've heard though it can get a bit routy there...but we'll see.

That'd be good, except I won't be around until about 1:00 on that Saturday.

I can always bring Damien's Ty out on a trailer, if you're worried about being alone.

My bet is that gates will be open at noon or so, haven't been able to get many details.

More info from the ISD web site...

$30.00 Per Participant
$5.00 Spectator
"Street Legal Thunder" Rules Apply

Sunday August 7th
11:00AM to 5:00PM
$30.00 Per Participant
$10.00 Spectator
"Street Legal Thunder" Rules Apply
Plus:The show you've been waiting for:
The "Midwest Wild Bunch" is back!!!!
8.50 & Quicker to Qualify!!!
"Do you have what it takes?????????

I imagine the increase in spectator gate is to cover the prize money for the Wild Bunch.
Note the time change for Sunday!

Basically, both days are test-n-tune/grudge racing. On Sunday, the wild bunch guys will
run some time trials and their class as well, but that won't cause a big time loss unless
we get an oil-down or something.
The wild bunch is fun to watch... there should be more than a few 7-second cars there.

I'll keep updating with the weather forecasts and stuff, but it looks good so far.

See y'all there!

(Aside: got my block and crank back... no way I'll get it running before Saturday, tho'.)

I don't think I have what it takes...

The wind coming from the north on saturday and saturday should make it feel pretty good up there. Camping shouldn't be too bad at all.

Once I got my block crank back, it only took me ~3 years to get it racing again. Hopefully you'll get it done a bit earlier than that ;)

My wastegate will be here today. Perfect test-n-tune weather, too :)

Is Ralph starting to feel the pressure of our showdown yet? You got any tricks to psych him out at the line?

AM temps have been in the mid 60s, so it's not bad sleeping. Been kinda humid,
hopefully that clears out.

I'm the Buick pilot, so it's my legendary concrete-curing reaction times you'll be dealing
with. :)

I'm hoping to get it back together aound the october time frame. Gonna take the L35s
in and get guides put in, I feel a bit better about running screw-in studs than the press-ins.
$6.50/ea to get guides done.

.030 over, deck the block .020, hot tank, polish the ugly out of the crank, and drive in
new cam bearings came to $281. Eagle Rods, TRW pistons, parts, gaskets came to
~850.

Another $80 for guides (+ 100 for used L35s) and I'm at $1300. That's without a cam,
lifters. I'll have $1600 into a mild build. If I need to freshen the trans, I'll have another
$200 there.

It's a 'spensive hobby. Good thing I do my own labor, I'd have to mortgage the house. :)

The sunday forecast looks great, but they keep messin' with the saturday forecast. Still looks like it'll be okay, though.

Well I was hoping for a bit of a challenge. I can't say I've ever seen you win a race that factored in reaction time ;) I just ripped off a 13.9 @ 75 with the Ty, so you better be on your game...

Anytime you rebuild a SyTy engine for less than the cost of a good lawnmower, I'd say it's money well spent. Switch her over to E85 and you'l have that $1600 back in about 3 years :)

Yeah, there's another $300 in injectors. At least I don't have more into it than I paid for
it.... yet.

I think I can get around a 13.9... it runs a 12.8 with a 2.0 60 foot, and that was hitting the
rev limiter on the 1-2 and 2-3.

We should be able to get a better tune into it than a 13.9...

The 13.9 was with 9psi of boost and letting off at 80mph. I'll hopefully be able to get some better numbers out of it tomorrow. It should be cool out so I'll take 'er up 20psi and see what happens.

Throw some timing at it, too... the alky will like more timing than gas.
It should run 12s without breaking a sweat.

Wiener. He's just afraid of being slow. [nudge]

See ya there. Weather looks good, clear and upper 80s though. We'll find a spot under
a tree to park. :)
