Anyone try their powerball for paint? Just curious on your opinion of it, got one the other day and haven't tried it yet.

I never tried mine on paint but I don't see why it wouldn't work great? Works awesome on polished wheels tho!

I don't think it would work too well on paint.... you want something big and flat (lots of smooth surface area) on paint... I use the random orbital on paint. I'm pretty sure the powerball is just for getting into crevices, etc. on wheels???

I use a variable speed polisher for paint but they do make a Powerball intended for paint. I've seen it, haven't tried it

Re: Mothers powerball.

I use the regular big red one on paint and it works very very well. I used it with Turtlewax brand rubbing and polishing compound in the little white containers. I'm not sure how well other compounds would work. The only complaint I have is the mess it makes. Little white specs everywhere!

Ahhh, just looked at the Mother's site... didn't know they made the yellow one. I've always wanted to get the mini to use on the wheels. Let us know how it works.

I have the little one for wheels.

The ball is fine, the polish they sell you is inadequate. If you use it with a good quality polish, it works.

Re: Mothers powerball.

I bought the power ball for paint (yellow ball) don't like it! I prefer my buffer by far. The ball just throws compound or wax even when trying to delicately turn your drill. Also, the ball to me seems to soft. My opinion, use a pad and do it by hand. Ive had alot of practice buffing and sanding, used to work at a body shop. Just my :2cents:
