As soon as I get my other 4l80e done you can have first dibs on it. It will have the 27 spline output shaft so you can bolt it right in!

Re: Motor rebuild for 92TY#73

Got a bunch of stuff done tonight. First off, I wired the map signal wire and the fuel pump relay wire through the harness in the engine bay to run back in to the truck to head back to the Aeromotive FP controller. I ran the wires under the carpet and to the back seat on the driver side. I did this because the pump is right under it and for $300 I thought I would try and keep the controller inside.

I figured the wiring couldn't be any more ugly than the wiring people have going to their amps and speakers:dunno:
Here is the pretty mess left over in the cab, still will be awhile before this is straightened out, I may get all new gauges and may leave this apart awhile

Here is where the wiring comes down. You can see I installed a junction block to accommodate everything. You can also see the pump through one of the holes in the frame

A1000 mounted up

Also, FINALLY finished my brake lines. When I was removing the old fuel lines I was cutting away and kept thinking to myself, why in the hell are there four lines here? One feed, a return and a vent for the purge. Then it became obvious when I clipped the last one and became covered in brake fluid:oops: You can see how I simplified the equation of brake lines

Also got the core support dumbied in to place and the FMIC mounted

That's it for now. Tomorrow I have to finish wiring the pump up. Then it will be time run the new battery cables. With any luck I will be bale to get the rest of the fuel system soon. All I need is all of the plumbing and its all down hill from there.

there is plenty of room behind the speaker panel to mount that thing...why mount it in sight?

It has indicator lights. I need to see if they are working or not. I guess I am just the kind of person who prefers easy access to important things. It really doesn't look sitting there either. I'd be surprised if anyone ever even notices it.

Now before anyone stones me for this, know that I am not 100% sure this will be the way we run the down pipe. Me and Mike (Critical) got it all done up today. I did not account for the fact that the rest of the exhaust would not be "supported" so I have to do something about that. Here is what we came up with

Certainly gives you great access to all of the plugs.
All you need to do is install these & your good to go.

J/K. Have it coated black & it will blend right in.

How much prettier could the install get? Its just a v-band. As for coating goes, that's something I don't see in the cards anytime soon. Like I said before, I am not even sure this is what I will go with. I want to drive the truck a bit first and see if this thing is practical.

The sump came out ok. My friend Mike went ahead and brazed the welds after he welded it all up. I haven't taken any pics yet because right after it was finished being welded, I put the tank in for checking out fuel system measurements and things like that. I don't plan on pulling it back out until I get the POR15 kit and clean it all up and paint it. The I also need to get all the fuel system plumbing in. That is probably when I will take pics of the tank.

Thanks Danny. The flex pipe at this point I am considering temporary. It is not working out the way I thought it would. Typhoonracer had this set up and he liked it a lot but he didn't have the external wg and the flex pipe was much longer probably making it much more movable. When I order my mandrel bends for the IC piping there will be plenty left over for the exhaust and will more than likely finish it that way. I can tell you didn't think I had it in me when I went to help you pull the motor in that Sy and you kept telling me how to take bolts out:roll: As far as the trust fund goes, it doesn't exist, I do make that much money, especially when it snows. I can rake in $3500 every time it snows. This is why the truck is now on hold, it hasn't snowed in two months:( What I make on my commercial accounts is really just enough to pay bills, taxes and get us around.

aren't you planning on using aluminum for your ic piping?

are you really planning on using aluminum for your exhaust?

Its an exhaust kit from JEGS. it comes with a bunch of mandrel bends, it is all aluminized steel exhaust pipe. Reason I dont care for the thin aluminum piping for the IC stuff is because the last pipe I had crushed super easy when tightening the t-bolt clamps.

Re: Motor rebuild for 92TY#73

did it have a bead rolled end? That adds tons of strength.

Yes. I got it all off ebay. It is just some flimsy shit. I have seen the good pipe and it is a lot more expensive. I have seen plenty of IC's done the way I am going so I am not too worried about it. And for the money, you really cant beat it.

Got some more work done. It has been going slow since we are in the slow season and haven't been getting much snow. So far I have spent a ton of time on wiring. Had to re-do a few things because I didn't like certain locations things like that. But I think I have it all down now and close to final. I also got in the rest of the fuel system. I can't believe what I paid for this crap. Altogether, I have spent $2,000 from injectors to gas tank. Makes me sick.
Here are the gorgeous fittings I got from JEGS.

Pump and filters

Driver side fuel rail with fuel pressure gauge sending unit

Front loop

Passenger side fuel rail with mounted gauge for under hood fuel pressure adjustments

More wiring done

And more

Here is where I ran the wiring for the alky pump, efans and trans cooler fan through the frame to the front of the truck.

Looks like next on the list will be plugs and wires. I am planning on MSD wires and will make them myself. After that I will probably go ahead and throw the fenders on with the core support and start on the IC piping.

Is the offset nitrided "mini stroker" crank weaker than a stock nitrided crank?
