In five years that was the first time I've ever done that (argh). I try to never leave with less than 10psi. I like to get 15psi, but sometimes I just don't have time to get there before the tree drops. I pulled my governor back out and will add another 5 grams. I need to get the shift RPMs down.

So I yanked out the governor and it's going to be difficult to find space to add more weight to the weights I have in there now. The RPM race trans came with the heavier outer weights and I added 5 more grams of weight before to get the shifts down. I guess it wasn't enough so I'm going to ask my buddy to braze or weld on another 5 grams. If that doesn't bring the shifts down, I'm out of ideas. RPM governor on left, stocker on right (note how much thicker the left governor's inner and outer weights are):

It's going to be difficult to find areas to add more metal without interfering with the mechanism, but we'll have to get creative. We did fill the recessed hole in the back of one of the weights before...you can see it in the picture. This governor swapping stuff makes switching to a 4L80E look very attractive.

Timing is reset. MSD coil is back in. Don't blow that thing, get the trans fixed so it shifts corectly.:tup: Hope to see you on the 21st.

80E!!!! 80E!!!!! I should know hopefully next weekend how hard it is to install one. I know how much they cost already! Cant wait to see that nice Prime gears trans sitting under my SY!

I added a few more grams to both inner weights this afternoon. I'm hoping this brings down the shift RPMs a couple hundred. With that, more boost, TCC locked, and Phil Long chip set on D (+2 timing) instead of 5, I'm sure it's going to be 11s baby! See you on the 21st Don ;)

Oh man, I put the governor back in tonight and did some datalogging. The 1-2 WOT shift went from 4825 to 4200 RPMs, 2-3 from 4850 to 4775 RPMs, and 3-4 unchanged at 4900. I did some WOT runs from 0-120 on the 237 freeway and it pulls like a raped ape...it's just freakishly fast now :cool: I'm running the Phil Long chip on setting D instead of 5 which adds two more degrees of timing (17). Doing this introduced a few degrees of KR on the 3-4 WOT upshift, but it's less than 5 degrees and negligible. I am confident I will bring home some 11-second timeslips when I go back to the track on the 21st. Will post some vids and timeslips for everyone to enjoy. Oh yeah, some guy in a brand new BMW M3 was going WOT just ahead of me on Lawrence this evening, so I reeled him in and passed him from a 40mph roll like he was standing still. He then guns it again after he saw me pass him and I did it again to prove the point. He took it up to 100mph+ and I let him go...what a slow turd, ha ha.

looks like finding someone to pick up my son from school is going to be hard. As always my wife dont care to help. I will pm you if I can go early next week if the offer still stands. I realy want to go.

Well, I'm in the 11s boys :cool: First run out was 12.19@107mph, then 12.00@111mph, and then I locked the TCC at the ALDL and got my magic 11.955@112.55mph. Don's best of the night was 13.3@98mph so he's getting back closer to where he was last season. Thanks Brian for driving from Livermore to hang out and handle the camcorder duties. We got some OK videos, but nothing spectacular. There was an SL65 AMG V12 BiTurbo running low 12s, but he only managed a 12.7 in the crappy video we got of his run. My 11-second run was against a brand new BMW M5 with the paddle-shifters and what not. He ran 12.83@113mph...it wasn't even close. Will post the videos shortly. BTW, I'm 99% sure I blew my turbo on the drive home. It's making a nasty whining noise and won't build much boost...I don't think it liked the 26.2psi runs.

congrats for getting into the 11s! what turbo *were* you running, sorry to hear it blew.. time to upgrade!

It's a ceramic-coated 60-1 (non-BB) from RPM. I'm not positive it's the turbo yet, but the noise is directly-related to boost so it seems likely. I will take a closer look tomorrow and find out for sure. Here are the videos from tonight:

I noticed locking the TCC created some audible knock that wasn't there when not locking it. I also noticed locking the TCC hurt my 60' times, but helped my overall 1/4 and mph.

LOL...Dude, come on now, it was my first time at the track remember? Besides, how crappy can a video be of you pulling an 11...against the new M5 nonetheless? This sh*t could've been recorded upside down and still would be F'n rad! Cause what I learned on my first trip is that it only matters that you can see those red numbers at the end.

Oh, nice meeting you Don...sorry I never introduced myself but I couldn't hear a damn thing out there.

Congrats dude! I always wondered when you would get a break and that thing would fly. I bet you are getting a boost spike because of the locked tc on the shift. I'm pretty sure that's why you are getting audible knock. I know ALL about that bs.
