Mufflers

My Syclone needs new mufflers what is the best muffler for it I am kinda worried about it cause the service manual said it will lean out if I reduce the restriction of the exhaust it would make the engine run lean.

should i go with a straight pipe from the cat or stay with the duals

your truck have dual exhaust tips? I personally don't like dual tips on a vehicle that doesn't have two pipes coming off the engine. I love my Borla XR1 muffler. I also have the comp 412 cam with no cat, and I think it sounds mean. low in tone and pertty loud for a little pickup. I can try to post sound clips if needed. but I would get anything but a flowmaster....just my :2cents:

Re: Mufflers

yeah i have the dual tips on it truck is bone stock but mufflers and pipes after the muffler are rusted out. It has walker dyomax mufflers on it right now I thought about putting those back on it. I also like the look of the of the dual tips does it increase performance to put a single pipe on it and will the dual pipes affect things later on when i start to make modify the truck.

Going to a single muffler will be lighter than your dual mufflers.

Going to a straight through muffler will increase perfomance, much better than the restrictive stock mufflers.

Ya, it's got a Turbo
Re: Mufflers

I just put a Magnaflo on my Sy and works (& sounds) great. Truck has a 3" S/S system front to back. Not too loud, until you get on it. No Baffles, no restrictions. Just my input.

Re: Mufflers

the only drawback for me on the rpm kit is i like the look of the two pipes on the back of the truck

Serious about performance
Re: Mufflers

The "dual exhaust look" goes better with V8s or at least, an N/A engine. Any turbo engine (single turbo) will probably have a large single outlet. Having dual exhaust on a single turbo V6 engine seems like a weird combination IMO.

Re: Mufflers

Duals would be perfect for the set up I showed you. One pipe would be straight through while the other would be a normal sounding muffler. Just need to get a dump somewhere on the straight through piece. I love it, it sounds awsome open or closed.
