The guy who just bought my typhoon is going to have the entire truck repainted.

Has 2 other ty's and a syclone, plus apparently a pile of other neat cars (camaros, vettes, etc.....).

My truck had a few chips on the front, a small scuff mark on front and rear bumper and some just overall use marks (like clear coat type scratches...), but was in great shape overall..... i guess he wants it to look perfect!

How would you think a complete repaint would effect resale value? I am pretty sure he isn't selling the truck ever, but.......

I have no doubts it will look like new, but wow!!!

Yes I drive a Typhoon.

That's stupid. I'm a painter and it is going to
be alot of work to get it back better than
it was. imo. I was eyeing your ty but didn't have the
$ at the moment. And I sure would'nt have painted it.
Plus the price of good red paint is through the roof!

I had my repainted in Brazil at a Chevrolet dealer that belongs to my best friend, it cost me $4,000 and took 3 months but it was worth every peny. I don't think it will affect the price if the paint is well done.

The factory paint on our trucks really sucks, I will someday repaint my Sy. If its a 100% stock Ty with low mileage vehicle I wouldn't repaint it. To collectors its worth more 100% original if the paint is in showable condition. He probably won't get any more money for the truck with a nice paint job...

Originality on paint removes all questions/suspisions that arise regarding prior damage. If someone were to tell me a 17,000 mile Sy or Ty was repainted "just because" and I didn't KNOW the history of the truck, I'd be VERY suspect. That just doesn't pass the common sense test. I know your truck was right but just speaking generally as a buyer in the market for a mint Ty. Antiques bring premium prices regardless of paint condition IF it is original. Any repaint reduces the investor's interest and unless it is a 1/1 ever made, vehicles are no different. Congrats on the sale!!

i am sure he will document it pretty well, but it sounds like he will probably just keep the truck forever. the factory paint had a fair amount of dust and other shit in it, so if he has a great body guy i guess the truck will look awesome..... strange though...

My red ty needs paint - It is falling off, like the other gm cars of the era that had problems. BUT if the paint is good - why change it. Someone told me once - if it ain't broke, don't fix it. But if the guy wants to pain this new toy, so be it...

I disagree on the originality aspect look at collector cars The was a certain car that recentlly sold for 125k then one year later appeared at the same auction with fresh shiny paint and sold for 250k . I agree cars are only original once but people will pay more for nice paint as opposed to shitty original paint
