My bonehead manuver...

Yesterday, I went to Sears and bought a new Battery for my Ty. I stuck the battery in the bed of Sy and drove home. From a stop at one intersection, I gave it some gas, but I heard the clunk of the battery and realize that was not the smartest manuver. When I got home, I went to get the battery and my tailgate open. DOH!!! The tailgate didn't fully latch and the clunk was the tailgate opening. I went back to retreived the battery, somebody had hit it and it was leaking acid :(

I brought back and tried to see if the 2 year warranty would apply :) The salesman originally were only going to give me $7 for it, but the manager over heard the story and he sold me the next one for 1/2 price. So I spent $101.81 on 2 new batteries. Atleast nothing hurt either of my trucks...

hehe... similar experience..

when i was working on my ex honda.. i had a brand new battery in it... but after sitting for a few months, it was dead...

ok, time to up to discount (closest store, and thats where the battery was from) and get it charged really quick...

set it in the back of the sy.... then i got talking again about imports or some other stupid thing...

time to go... get in the truck and head off for discount...

get to the major road out of the neighborhood..... make the turn and i hear this awful... CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK.....

uh... shit.

left the tailgate open.... did a uturn only to find the battery case split wide open and the acid slung acorss the road all bubbling...

DOH!

no warrenty on a battery split open...

ended up buying another... $100 later...

I win. I broke the Sy's tranny housing when it fell out of the S-10. =( Luckily they're relatively easy to find...

I can relate to this one...I had a new girl and went to suprise her for a weekend. Showed up with her friend and the clone. We packed a few bags of her clothes (some of her favorite) in the back of the truck. I did same thing, didn't latch it all the way I guess. Went to launch it to show off and next thing I know I get to her house with 3 of her bags of clothing missing...Redrove our tracks and to this day never found them bags (2 years ago). Some bastard took them or something...
Needless to say, I dated her for about 2 weeks after that... :agrue:

HaHa. Dave, I did the same exact thing. But it was with a full Keg of Coors. The keg was pretty banged up, but didn't leak. I still received my entire deposit back on it, too. :D

me too!

put a flush mount soft tonneau onteh dodge and the back rail was still tight flush against the gate.

Tossed the steel Typhoon trans lines in the bed to get some matched or at least matcht he fittings...
Gate fell open, lines got run over by 3 or 4 cars,
Dropped a class 3 hitch crossmember too, but noone would hit that.

mabey the syty community should start focusing their attention on the tailgates... see who can come up with the best 'new' design, for easier latching :)

ya, it seems really like its because the cover makes the tailgate feel like its all the way shut.

I remember when gary did a launch outside of adam's house and end up spending the next few minutes picking up all the tools he had in his box in the bed. hehe.

Another story: ADAM SMASHED INTO MY TRUCK damaging the tailgate...

well, had the gate off for an extremely crappy and slow body shop to work on (brandon paint & body in Brandon Fl). anyway, bringing the trash to the dumpster.. forgot about it and left it in the back of the truck. Drove on to Adam's house for some wrenching. Realized once I got there I had forgotten to throw away the trash.

Well, it wasn't there. Followed my route home and it wasn't anywhere to be found.

I assume now, that the same people that stole your girlfriend's cloths probly took my trash. :D
