Pulled the engine, then the oil pan and found this. I googled and couldn't find anything. Number two piston. I'm sure i'll eventually figure it out, just checking if someone can tell me now.

thanks

yeah ..your right looking at the pic explians why botttom of piston was rubbing against crank which was probably the knock you were hearing.

Re: My engine knock - what happened?

could KR knock have caused this as well?? probably unlikely but seems possible. :dunno:

YES, KR was 99% probably to blame IMO. Either directly or indirectly(caused headgasket to blow allowing water into combustion chamber)... more details?

Combating adversyty.
Re: My engine knock - what happened?

My engine hydro locked. When it did, the engine stopped dead. The rod exploded and the crank and cam bent. That is how I bought it.

I guess it depends on how much fluid gets in to the cylinder. Are you sure it hydrolocked? That crank sure ground some meat off the pistons. It surely didn't do that in one revolution? Just asking!

What are you going to do with it now?

Indirectly probably.

Something else will be wrong though. KR alone will not do that. You'd beat up the bearing and spin it long before this happened.

Headgasket, cracked block maybe...

Thanks guys. Haven't pulled the head yet (this weekend), but here's how/when it happened. Highway speed cruising on slight upgrade, alittle boost, then a slight shudder and the tic started. Had another five miles to work so I limped it there (tic progressively got worse) and trailered home.

Didn't stall and even started back up. Only other possible contribution was the meth kit. It's a devils own progressive and shouldn't have kicked at that boost level (have it set at 9 psi), it could have though. I've been itching for a reason to rebuild and this did it. Going with a 4 bolt basic forged ( 450ish?). The short block is the last piece needed.

What to look for when I pull the head? Can I test the meth kit? Devils own doesn't offer a fail safe (I called).

Would the meth kit spraying early really cause this? I would of thought it would just run richer and maybe bog down the engine. If it were spraying before it was suppose to ,would it be enough meth to hydro-lock the engine?

Re: My engine knock - what happened?

Pulled the heads. I can't see any smoking gun, but I'm also not as educated as most on here. It's been sitting since Oct and the motor has been turned acouple of times on the stand. # 5 has alot of carbon build up.

Just an FYI, the devils own nozzle is located forward of the throttle body after intercooler. With that distance could it fill a cylinder?

stuck injector? It had an ultimate chip v6, fuel pressure set at 50 idle (been that way for 13 yrs)
