My first time at the track in the Sy

Well I decided after washing and waxing the Sy that I would head out to the track. Made a few hot passes when I got there on 91 octane and the results were a 13.99@94 and a 13.91@95. I let it cool down for a few minutes then I went and got some 104 to put in it since I only had a 1/4 tank left. Got back in line and the results were a little better. 13.635@97.69 and then right back in line for a 13.675@97.88(getting better). I let it cool for a bit in the staging lines and got back up to run and spun the tires bad on this launch and ended up with a worse 13.74@97.96. Now I'm in line for the last run of the night and I decided I wasn't gonna launch at 4500 like I had been I'm gonna launch at 3K and see what it does, the results were much better I ran a best of the night of a 13.53@97.96 with a 1.94 60'(track was getting slick).

Overall I'm VERY happy with the results of this truck. I was expecting a 13.7 at best and I topped it 3 times.

Keep in mind this truck is BONE stock there is not one thing done to it at all and the tires are the originals from 1991 and have 32K miles on them.

How are you getting those stall (4500 , 3000) numbers out of a stock truck?? I thought the stock stall was 2100 rpm. How much boost were you runninng?

good stuff, get that 60' down to 1.7's and you'll be at the 13.3 or so mark. pretty good for a stocker! times aren't bad at all...sounds like you got a solid running truck.

I don't know much about these trucks at all, I just remember looking down before I launched and that's what the tach read. I was launching with one foot on the gas and one on the brake until the light turned green then it just took off. about how much boost I'm running, whatever stock is I'm not sure. I've heard the stock boost gauge isn't completely accurate so I wasn't paying attention to it.

Mine shifts at 4500.

Either a whuped T/C or very happy tach.

Nice times for stock, watch for knock hot-lapping on 91. Either the 104 fixed some knock or it cooled off outside.

1.7 60' would = 13.20's

It was cool out last night mid 60's to be exact and the truck seemed to cool down pretty quick. I left the hood up while I was in the staging lines.

I'm thinking the tach may be a bit off b/c it doesn't shift in my truck until around right at redline.

Very good time for stock, I'm hoping for similar results when I try for the first time. Your launch rpm blows my mind though.... what was happening? I think it might be the tach because if your TC was shot, would you be able to run those times?
