You don't need that controler shit, through it away. How many times do you plan on adjusting your mirrors anyway? If anything mount it in the factory location.

Re: my small project

I thought factory location is where the fog light switch is?? For now they wont be powered but I want to hook it up someday when I have nothing to do. Or I might end up ripping the engine out again. Where do I find the longer bolts. I found 2 in the box so I have the driver side almost mounted. I checked a few auto stores and nothing.

Sick progress man  Can't wait to hit the track with you in March. All I need is a front-end alignment and some Torco additive so I don't blow my engine apart and I'm pretty sure we're going to see deep 12s or even 11s.

You should be in the 11's from what I seen. Looks like maybe late march for me. Transmission, converter, new gilbert, conversion kit is all paied for. Just need a few more parts to come in and some cash to buy a trans computer and put it all together.

Re: my small project

Very cool. So when is your tranny going to arrive? Do you have the modified shafts, crossmember, adapter, and all the other stuff needed to put that 4L80E in your truck? I'm assuming this will be your biggest hurdle. Keep at it brother

Re: my small project

JS still has to make my crossmember. I have everything else. George still has to build the TC to my truck specs and I owe him for the computer. He is a great guy, has been a big help and made this transition easy for me. He is selling me the modified front shaft and I have to do the rear one. I guess it should ship sometime mid feb. I cant wait.

Re: my small project

Well, the track opens in March so I hope it all comes together fo you by Spring. I know from experience how projects can drag on just waiting for vendors to send parts and such. George is a good guy and I'm really looking forward to riding in an electronically-shifted Sy :)

Mike at RPM has been more then helpfull. George too. I am curious how it rides too. It will be nice to know I can get on it without wory of the trans going out. The cost was high but same as 3 700r builds. The guys on here too have been great. Got some good deals and help from so many. Now I have to get the garage and put my zq8 on.

Re: my small project

I had the exact same problem when I bought my used Jimmy mirrors off eBay: no screws. I ended up ordering them from gmpartsdirect. Search the forum and I think you'll find the part numbers were posted in the past.

Re: my small project

I have said this manny times on this site. I am no mechanic. My dad was. He could build 500hp SBC's in his sleep. Not me. I watched and learned. I am doing this on luck, guessing and help from you guys and the internet(god help me). I pulled my trans pan today just to see. The fluid in the cooler was not bad. It was dark in color but looked fine otherwise. After pulling my pan I can see that the filters(remote) was doing its job. The bottom of the trans is fill of black thick substance. Again I am no mechanic. I can guess its clutch material but again IDK. Any help on what it is and what caused this falure on such a new trans. Thanks
