I was following my wife today, and noticed the ty was leaning to the left.I was wondering do I need new leaf springs? My Uncle said shocks seem pretty good & stiff. So I figured time to level him out. They say new leafs will fix that,is this true?

first check the rubber-mounts on the torsionbar-crossmember.when one is broken it might cause the truck to lean (mine at least did).

Adjust the torsion bar keys until the truck is leveled. There is a measurement on www.sportmachines.com in one of the pdf docs. You measure from the front wheel arch cladding to the ground and then readjust the keys until you get it right. Common. Very common.
Here's the page:

I too have the same problem except my truck leans to the right. I was wondering if my problem was the rear springs. I have rebuilt my front end with poly what ever bushing and the same with the torsion bar. I had the front end all aligned.

Some more information that I think may be pertinent. When I launch the rear drops hard and feels a little soft. I checked my shocks. They are after market Billstines (sp) and the auto leveler system has been removed.

Question: If I have to adjust the torsion bars, will I have to get the front end re-aligned? If I put on new rear springs, will I have to get the front end re-aligned?

Bigger question: Should I get replacement rear springs? If so, what brand or what kind should I get for a daily driver (weekend stop light launches on occasions)?

Re: My Ty is leaning to the left?????

anytime you change the torsion bar adjustment you need to get the front end realigned. Usually the factory setup has the trucks lean on the drivers side, something about it being easier for the driver to enter the vehicle.

New leafs may help with the rear dropping hard, due to hard launches the right rear leaf may be fatiuged(sp).

Thanks guys for the advice! So I did the torsion key adjustments&there right.I got ah 4wheel alignment&moog idler arm today. It stills seems like it's sagging on the left side.It looks like the right side wheels stick out a litte more than the left.Well rear leafs sit me back up right or no?

MY old Sonoma had the left lean - What I did was put my weight in sand bags in the driver seat, and adjusted the torsion bar until it was even. When I drove it afterwards, it was flat as a pancake...
