I'll see you guys in Bowling Green then.... screw leaving Thursday

Say El Capitan is LBI long beach island by any chance, I spent a good portion of my youth in surf city, back then the parkway and turnpike cops had chrysler 300,s and merc turnpike cruisers, they could haul pretty good for the 50's

yup, LBI = Long Beach Island. Born and raised here, depending on the last time you were here, a lot may have changed.

It looks like its 10 hours or so from Renz's. Early morning Thrusday still should get us to Bowling, KY at a reasonable time. I don't mind leaving real early but that is upto what everyone else does. I would prefer to not drive all night to get to BG at 10am.

I just hate not taking advantage of night driving. What else am I really going to do after work on Wednesday, from 5pm - ??? Ill be sitting on my ass, probably in syty chat

Personally, Id rather leave sometime after rush hour, get a good 4 - 8 hours of driving done before I even get tired, then just hit a rest area for a couple hours, wake up, take a piss and hit the road again. Get to the BG area in either late morning / early afternoon, grab some lunch, then go check in. :dunno:

Especially when you consider a caravan is going to move MUCH slower than 1 - 3 vehicles traveling together, which was proven by the '06 Nats Caravan with everyone "needing" to stop every couple hundred miles to take a leak or breakdowns or extended food stops cause its harder to feed 20 people in a timely fashion than it is 2 - 6 people.

Im all for the caravan, it definitely makes the trip a lot more fun and even relaxing knowing that if you have car trouble, there are 12 other cars that can go get help/parts. But what I dont like is wasting a night of cool, no traffic cruising when I know I personally would be doing absolutely nothing else but watching the clock.

Re: NASTE Nats Caravan

I took off Wednesday, already. I just can't drive 18-19 hours straight through the night, so I need sleep some time during my travel. I am more of a morning person, so getting up at 3 am is more preferable than driving through the night than taking nap. As we get closer, I am sure the travel plan for everyone be clearer.

ok well thats cool, that could open up a lot of other options too. Being that youre one of the "far away" guys, some of the planning will revolve around you, but since you have the ability to leave earlier, that helps a lot.

Re: NASTE Nats Caravan

I took off the entire week before just incase i have any last minute things i want to do to the truck since the plan is to drive it down and back. Im looking to head down when the majority of you guys are going since i think the caravan down will be a big part of the trip.

Re: NASTE Nats Caravan

does everyone have wheels on their jack stands? lol.

i just spoke to my wife. she gave me the ok to go frid, sat sun.

ive been planning on painting the truck and getting my built motor in. the only thing is i think im gonna put the motor together with the stock s10 injection just cause i don't think im gonna get the turbo/wiring/tunning done in time.you know how august is gonna sneak up on me.

anyway, as it gets closer, im guessing we'll all firm up on the caravan times/dates.

Re: NASTE Nats Caravan

im being realistic...........oh, and i hate you. lol.

im gonna put it out there once the truck is running (with the new motor) if i can get a wrench session together with someone who is familiar with the wiring. id love to get the turbo set up in and running. if that happens id be reallllllly happy.

Re: NASTE Nats Caravan

I am in for joining the caravan, depending on when it leaves. It seems as if we are going back and forth on the departure time. I am for leaving on thursday morning, but if the caravan is going to blow out of town on WED night then I would consider joining depending ont he availability of my navigator. I am towing, with some extra room in the bed of the truck (not covered), and possibly a couple of extra quad cab seats.
Thanks,

As in "enough for another truck?" If so, let's talk. I've 10 minutes from you in Blue Bell and would rather tow than drive. (not continuing to Memphis as originally planned).

Re: NASTE Nats Caravan

We need to get the times and meet points locked down soon :2cents: Maybe a poll for who wants to leave thursday morning and who wants to leave Wednesday night?
