It's paint fella's....Paint it yellow with pink polka dots if you want. It is your gem, your property, and so you should do what you wish with it. You can easily get a truck sprayed back to factory. Hacking up motors, drivetrain, and interior ...perhaps a differnet story but again, your gem, your property and so you should do what you wish with it.
My datsun pickup has been restored 2x. The first resto had off white pearl paint with light blue and magenta flames. I do admit it was pretty heinous. To top it all off it had 5 star enkies on it. Very 1984 and why shouldn't it be, that was what was hot in '84. People scowled and teased and made remarks....It didn't change the fact that it was a numbers matching original rust free example that took me over 6 months to find. Probably the finest example in the pacific NW in respects to being a solid, untouched, unhacked pickup. True colors gentleman are always underneath the paint....always! Keep that in mind.
Now they see the truck and they lend praise and positive remarks. It's very vain and immature to judge a book by it's cover. Put it this way, ever meet a girl for the first time and say to yourself, she isn't super cute or hot but is just average? That is the curb appeal. But once you get to know them and thier awesome personality starts to shine through you find yourself more and more attracted to them. This is because you have become attracted to thier inner beauty and realize that looks, albeit helpful, are not the end all be all. Cars are no different. Most people are inherintly vain and egotistical, hence the immature comments. I wouldn't give that bag of shit 2 seconds of time to include responding to his 3rd grade email/mentality.
