Nats Truck Count & Demographics

Re: Nats Truck Count & Demographics

There may or may not be 1 or 2 trucks missing from this, but this is the count from Friday night at the Corvette Museum, + the trucks at the hotel, + Maxtor at the track on Saturday.

Syclones : 24 1/2 (including Marks trailer)

I believe they were all black except for King's Blue/Gray, Harmon's Black/Purple and I think I spotted two Black/Grays as well.

Typhoons: 38

Colors should be as follows:
Orange/Black : 1 (epix)
Silver/Blue : 1 (Harmon)
Teal/Gray : 1
Blue/Gray : 2
Green/Green : 2
Green/Gray : 3
Red/Red : 2
Red/Gray : 3
White/Gray : 2
White/White : 6
Black/Gray : 3
Black/Black : 12

Total : 62 1/2

(if anyone knows for sure of any other trucks that were at the track only, let me know)

Along these lines, does anyone have a breakdown of where everyone was from? I'm always curious to see how far people will drive for these things.

Truckless. For now.
Re: Nats Truck Count & Demographics

Was that the actual people who showed, or just who registered on-line?

Just those who registered online. Renz would have to go through his registration check-in list and match usernames/names to get who came from where.

i'll vouch for that, cleanest most stock sy i've ever seen, looks like it just rolled off the assembly line.

:tup::tup:

We need to have an award for nicest stock Sy + Ty because they are a dying (and slightly underappreciated) breed. I had one of the only (only?) stock Tys there yet how many photos my factory-fresh bay have you seen??

which would require me having the list :( hopefully it didn't get lost in the shuffle becuase i'd love to look at the actual demographics.

I'm kinda curious about how much of an effect that locale had... ie, did we have a big crowd because it was closer to people, or was it people who would have showed no matter where it was?

Or, the larger question - what made people come to *this* nats?

From my perspective....a lot of it was location. I personally would've gone to Oregon for NATS, but I know some (source: their own mouths) that would not have made the trip had it been less centralized to the majority SyTy population. Sadly, that's the case. At the Shindig last year, we had people that showed up that wouldn't attend an event held out of state. They just aren't that devoted.....and that's fine.....it takes all kinds. However, if the core 50-60 members of our group see BG as being centralized to *our* area (the core demographic), then moving it to accommodate a different region/locale might prove to be a disservice to the ones who religiously attend and make NATS what it is today.

Now......what I think will make people come back to BG in the future (assuming NATS is held there again....crossing fingers) is not only the location, but the laid back track atmosphere and potential to have an even better time the next go around (since we now know some of the pros/cons of the BG area). And knowing that, I vote to give BG the nod in 2011.

Re: Nats Truck Count & Demographics

I am a newbie to nats, so I can tell you from that perspective that Bowling Green had a lot to offer. I came from PA. I would have driven cross country to go to a meet, but having towed to BG, I probably wouldn't tow again unless my truck was a lot more wild than it is. Bowling green helped seal the deal for me because my copilot owns a corvette, so the museum and the possibility of a tour of the plant is what interested him. The track was a huge draw to me as well. The ability to autocross and drag race with little or no oversight is huge. I am an avid autocrosser (if that is a word) in my subaru, so having the area to have our own autocross course was awesome. I have been to events that I spent 6 to 8 hours in order to run 4 less than a minute runs. If this event was held much farther out west, I would be less likely to show up, but only because of the total amount of time involved. Nats 11 was a four day vacation for me, of which 28 hours were spent in transit. More than 5 or 6 hours farther west, and I would probably want the driving to span two days rather than all in one day.
In the future if the site was to be moved, I would suggest trying to find a location that includes something like the Corvette museum. The only things that jump right out would be the Peterson museum and the Woodward dream cruise. Well that is the end of my rambling post regarding Nats 11. I am already looking forward to Nats 12.

Re: Nats Truck Count & Demographics

i liked bowling green.my 2nd choice would be indy.lots to do there and centrally located.thats why all the race teams are there,i could prolly get us in to DSR or John Forces shop.the big drawback would be a track.ORP is prolly to pricey for us.i'm just thinkin out load
