steve,
according to mapquest, its only 291.08 miles (5hr 22min) to pipe through State College from Whitpain to the track. Direct is 279.44 miles (4hr 46min). If you'd like to caravan through my house thursday night, and break the trip up and be amongst wrenchers....you're more than welcome to. I can give you and your son the spare bedroom in the basement so you'd be secluded from the late night chitchat session thursday night. We plan on leaving my house around 11am, and getting to the track around 2pm. Its only an extra 11 miles.

If you have room, I would like to drop by Thursday night.

Sounds like it is going to be a sy/ty sleepover party at Renz's. Is it a pajama party?

Definitely Dave. It'll be a big pillowfight. Winner takes couch. I have 2 pullout couches, 1 sofa, 1 loveseat, 1 single bed/spare bedroom (Baythan has dibs w/ his son, unless he doesn't come)...and floor space. I have 2 or 3 sleeping bags i think, but am lacking pillows for everyone.

I wonder if any locals would let you keep the dogs at their house, or if any local hotels allowed pets? I could check into it if either option interested you.

I think it's a good idea to go to state college on thursday night. Break up the trip (for the 8 year old) and have wrenchers nearby. Plus the whole caravan thing. So, for now, pencil us in for the basement.

Truck is at Bigtime today getting prepped (oil return line being fixed, inspection, etc.), so we'll be good to go.

Eric, there is a kennel in Avis PA(Pretty sure you drive by this) that charges $23.50 per day for two dogs.

My co-worker swears by the place and we plan to use it when we go to the beach this year...

Oh yeah, they need to be licensed and proof of vaccinations.

If his gf shows up with the 2 dogs, i wouldn't bother to ask where she dropped Smaug off at.

just need proof of vaccinations

in order to put monster into a kennel he needs to get another bortadella shot.. I believe the shot is $100 at the vet..

Aside from that, I would prefer not to put either of my dogs in a kennel, especially monster considering he is allergic to everything and very sensative to heat.

I'll see what we can figure out, trust me I want to go, I'm just not 100% sure if I can afford it or do it.

Honestly, I don't board my dogs either. One of them doesn't get his shots except the law mandated rabbies shot. If you were closer, I bet my wife would take them for the weekend.

I appriciate it.. my parents can watch caddy (the bigger one) but not monster, they have a 98lb old english sheep dog that has major issues.. he doesn't know what to do with monster and we are worried he will just snap on him and hurt him (98lbs vs 22lbs, won't be pretty) Caddy on the other hand gets along with my parents dog without a problem, they wrestle and growl but caddy holds her own.

Basically, Monster is so carefree that he doesn't think about what other dogs are doing or how they will react, when a much larger dog is hovering over him constantly he will just turn around and jump up with paws swinging trying to play and of course my parents dog doesn't understand this and immediately pins him to the ground by putting his jaws around monster's neck.

I can't ask my parents to keep them sperate all weekend or put that kind of pressure on them (if their dog decides to be a psycho) so they can't watch monster.. Usually we give monster to her parents but they are down the shore.

so yeah, lucky me

Two words: Dog Whisperer. Best show ever.

Seriously, this sucks. Looks like kids are easier than dogs. And my kids are begging for a dog. And I'm :afro:
